Fujin was as close to a main you can get in Armageddon, but I still don't understand his current popularity. He currently is neck & neck with Raiden, a guy who pretty much has defined MK since the beginning, in the poll. What is it about Fujin that makes him so highly loved?
I get that he is in high demand because he has been shafted from almost every game since his debut. I want hims as DLC in MKX as well as a key role in MK11, however this is because of how good he could be, not how good he actually is. You could also say that he represents the guys from the 3D era who haven't been given as much as their MKTrilogy peers. However, why has Fujin become that? Someone like Bo has more history, character, and importance in his appearances. Havik has more personality, uniqueness, and potential. Is it all just the underdog effect?
Can someone tell me the appeal to Fujin's character? What makes him different than everyone else? What has Fujin done to deserve his popularity? This isn't a jab towards Fujin fans (I consider myself one) it's just honest curiosity.

I wouldn't say so much that it's a matter of popularity, so much as its a loose end. They set up Fujin to be big...he was going to replace Raiden as the protector of Earthrealm. It's not like Kai, who at the end of MK4, Raiden offers to make a champion of the realm, but Kai turns him down because he wants to go backpacking through Europe and sleep in Hostels for a few years. Fujin was something else.
Plus, he made an appearance in MKX, AND according to "sources" (I call bullshit on any "source" someone puts forth on an MK forum), Fujin was actually supposed to play a big part in Jax's chapter, leading the attack in the Netherrealm.
I'd like to see him return because I like the concept of his character and he has tons of potential.

I don't consider myself a fan of his, but I voted for him on the grounds that I am ready to see him make a playable return.

Raiden is awesome I like him but fujin is a fellow god and in mk x we have only one hero elder god and with the element of wind and after watching avater the airbender I know fujin has huge potential. He has story potential as well but nrs decide not to use and has had a popular following ever since armagedon not to mention the cameo appearance hyped alot of people up with the wind staff and him destroying many onis with a gust of wind hence why his popularity is so much. Its time for another elder god as we sorely need another one

I like his design, and control over wind is pretty cool. (Even if it is somewhat covered by kitana.)
I think people are a little burned out from raiden he hasn't missed a game since umk3.

I like Fujin because he's a God of Wind. And wind is a very versatile element, there's so much you can do with it. And yes, he was supposed to replace Raiden, but NRS pulled out on the idea because reasons.
He is the definition of underutilized.

He's got a cool design, he looked awesome in story mode. There's a lot of potential for his moveset (even if KL and Kitana aped him). He's been in the franchise for a long time, but always gets shafted. So in a way, this has made him less jaded to fans than a character like Raiden. And he's an elder god, it's a small club in MK.
I think its the same thing that draws me to characters like Rain, Tanya, and Reiko: underdog appeal.
These characters have potential, but they aren't given a chance to deliver on that potential. Raiden has had his time in the spotlight ten times over. Its time someone else got the chance to shine, so people like me root for underdeveloped characters like Fujin.

Fujin is not in high demand. Just on this website he is.
Outside of MKO, I doubt he's as significant as he's made out to be. I mean, Tremor is way more popular and was way more in demand than Fujin. I digress, but in a nutshell Fujin is highly overrated on MKO. He is the definition of overrated.

This is all false lmao. Dude, just admit Fujin is popular. A lot of people like him and want him to return. It's not the end of the world, man.

An online petition is not an accurate way to gauge a character's popularity. For one thing, people can sign it over and over with different emails. Also, if a character like Noob was petitioned for MKX, he might not get 10,000 signatures, but he is still a much more popular character than Tremor. Tremor is an obscure character with a loud minority who clamored for him. That being said, I hope he is a success as DLC.

For me it's that you have this character who has lots of gameplay potential that hasn't been reached due to only being in one game, a rushed game at that. Not counting MKA cause everyone was in that.
Now the MK team is putting so much time, effort, creativity and love in to their games and characters. Why not overhaul what I think to be the most requested character of that era, or even in general like they did with Stryker, Rain, Kenshi and Shinnok?

Basically "I vote Fujin cause he's not playable"
Screw logic, who needs it anyway.

No he's heavily requested on every MK board as well as anything else MK related. Definitely not just here.
Tremor is 100% not more popular than Fujin. You knew that was a lie the moment you typed that. I'm not sure why it bothers you so much that Fujin has a following of fans and people who'd like to see his potential realized.

I think we'll continue with the thread topic, thanks.
AgentK you're blatantly wrong. If you go to other MK forums or other game forums in general, Fujin is always on top 5 most requested. You're just angry that there are people upset that Kitana stole his thing.
And you still think that Tremor petition really was responsible? You really are delusional

Majority of casual MK fans have no clue who Tremor is.....let alone what game he's from.
