I've never really thought of Tanya as black. I always considered Jade to be black, but Tanya always struck me as middle-eastern looking.

I really think that when it comes to Jade and Tanya, its a simple case of "People will see what they want to see."

In my eyes, they are dark skinned Edenians.
You can say they're "Polynesian," "Arabic," "African," "Brazilian," "White," whatever. There are arguments for and against each label. However, its obvious that Nether Realm darkened their skin compared to Kitana and Mileena, making them some sort of "other" Edenian race. Take that as you wish.

In most people's eye's Tanya is just a yellow blur because she's on their shoulders spinning around at that point.

I have never ever considered Tanya to be black.. just fair skinned just like some Persian/Arabs, and I agree if we are to bring RACE into MK we are bound for some unneeded useless arguments.

That's said, I think the team agrees with that, with Jax being in every game just to add that dark skinned person.Fighting games need to put on diverse roster and as NRS has been doing their best.

Not sure myself.I never remember a heated encounter in them. But I think some people are just afraid that their interpretation of certain characters might change permanently.

Well they made everyone into deformed, cartoonish characters for Motor Kombat and Puzzle Kombat but I think we all knew that wouldn't last.

Tanya is black? No. Tanya has never been "black." And even now she looks more hispanic or South American. Possibly middle eastern. She looks a lot like Maya from Killer Instinct or Elena from Street Fighter. Are those characters "black?"

Tanya has always looked like Anck-su-namun (The Mummy) or now Cleopatra.

Jade has always looked like Pocahontas or Princess Jasmine (Aladdin)...or Asian or a tanned white woman.

Elena is from Kenya, which is in East Africa.

Nah its not man, while it is funny, I am quite a fan of israel, and blacks as I view them as just people....

My problem is the glorification of thugg life. uneducated, black gang banger culture the media loves to portray...seems every time a black guy or girl is in a game or movie, they are always portrayed like that...

Why can we not have a cool character who happens to have dark skin with out the ghetto stereo type? Why not make jax like stringer bell? Or jai white? Why does he have to be a jive talkin home boy?

One thats racist , & two how many black characters do you see in games or tv or movies who arent stereotypes not many . Cyrax , Jade , Jax & even Tanya were characters i saw to break away from that , something positive . In this world people see us as something negative unintelligent , aggressive, ugly or sex fiends , why can't we have something atleast in a game without someone saying why should you have another black character , why cant we have a character that we can relate to looks cool and say I feel welcomed .
