This would not sadden me one bit. Wouldn't mind a reveal that hadn't been spoiled, but f'n Shang Tsung would make this game sublime for me.

Mileena an Shang Tsung could be the perfect reveal-as antogonist of Kitana and Kung Lao. That would be amazing.

But that's just an illusion. Most probably reveal could be Cage and Takeda

The bow/staff/whatever character doesn't give me a Shang Tsung or Mileena vibe whatsoever.

Something unexpected would be if boot 6 turns out to be Shang Tsung with a total overhaul on his design.

No guarantee it'll even be whoever that is. We still don't know who some of those boots belong to, and that shot was put out months ago.

Boon talks about two character reveals coming up, right after putting up a massive tease of a character that's not in black and white, unlike the boots? It's got to be one of them. This is pretty different from the boots, in that those weren't put up around the same time six character reveals or anything were teased, and they've been pretty much established as a slow-burning thing from the get-go.

Not really. When those were shown off we were ready to believe we were about to see some character reveals on a steady basis; Quan came soonish after that, but the drought of info between Quan Chi and Kung Lao & Kitana was insane. We had expected something steadier to the point where the lack of info was driving the fanbase nuts.

I'm much more likely to believe that this is one of Ed's many, many fakeouts. The timing is just as valid coming after a major purported leak as it is for that picture.

Quan Chi came over a month after the boot picture, which did not come with any other teases or anything. Us getting something in a week was teased right before this recent pic pic, and two reveals were confirmed right after. This just isn't the same situation.

The possible leak hasn't been acknowledged by anyone at NRS. This pic outright came from them. I just think its timing and chances are a lot stronger, especially when they need time to make videos; it sounded like they were working on the most recent one all the way to the last minute, so I don't think they'd be able to throw together a couple of Mileena and Shang just like that purely because of the leak. But we'll see.

Standard company policy in situations like this is to keep quiet when things get leaked; I know this from working in the game sector for nearly ten years. Admit and confirm nothing until you've prepared your response; decisions like that have to go through a whole daisy-chain of personnel.

On that note, if this stream is anything at all like the last one - recall this will be a "character reveal & in-depth gameplay demonstration" according to Ed's Twitter - all they really need to do is set up a few cameras, plop onto a couch, talk about variations, showcase a fatality or two, and they're good. Wouldn't take more than a day's preparation or so for that once they get the okay.

I'll also submit that it wouldn't surprise me at all if the hand picture was specifically revealed to get people talking about the leak less and control information flow as much as possible.

Remember, I'm as ready to believe it could be about hand-dude as much as it could be about Shang and Mileena. Just saying, don't discount damage control.

I'll laugh for days if it's a completely revamped Shang wielding a staff or something.

I'm not opposed to the klassic folks returning, but I think we are overdue for a new kharacter. If there are to be 2 then maybe a mix of old and new would be good.

I'm at the point where I'm starting not to care. It's nearly February and the game is out in April It should've "begun" a long ass time ago.

Boon specifically said "2 Mortal Kombat X characters reveals and videos" for next week, though; "videos" implies these characters are going to get their own reveal trailers, not just be revealed right there on the roster when the stream is booted up. Also, there have been comments around that suggest the stream is going to feature just one of the reveals, not both. Also not sure they'd have the time to go in-depth on variations for two more characters in addition to Kung Lao and Kitana.

I think we get separate video reveals next week.

What are these comments you refer to? Just going off of Ed's Twitter:

"2 Mortal Kombat X character reveals & videos next week? No way. Well, only way to tell is etc."

^Wording for that last pretty much seals that deal for me that, yes, we'll go into detail about one new reveal's abilities, but I don't see why that would mean we'd only get details on one unless they're just doing a teaser for the other. "Reveals & videos" could mean two character videos, or one and the stream, or god knows what. At this point it's semantics, vague wording not worth fretting about. We'll see when the time comes.

Keep in mind, someone mentioned were supposed to get some Goro gameplay ages back when he was first shown and that hasn't happened yet. You've also got to factor him into calculations.

Here's something else to consider: How much sense would it make to reveal Mileena in close proximity to Kitana? I'd say a bunch, enough to wager a video trailer for her could have already been prepared along with or shortly after Kitana's. No telling how far away they were from revealing her, if at all; the alleged leak may have just bumped up their plans, if any, to show her off, assuming they were planning on doing so.
