This is why we don't discuss the race card in this game.

The only characters that actually has a "insert race" decent, are characters that were explained in their bios such as Sub-Zero and Scorpion. They have a race. Possibly Liu Kang and Kung Lao since they talk about Shaolin Monks and all of that kind of stuff.

But then you get more involved with the characters that are coming from different realms. Why do they need to have a race to define who they are? They came from different realms! There might not be such a race existing at all, just that people from Edenia are Edenians, they could be black or white, they're still considered Edenians!

Playing the race game is obviously a big time laugh in your face kind of deal because of the fact that no one will ever agree upon anything when it comes to this kind of subject. No one. I don't think I really see a thread coming together and be like, "Oh okay, Jade is really this kind of race..." Never have I seen a race conversation end up where people agree with everyone. It's just not going to happen.

So I can see why this is technically being considered a "fail thread."

Well Li-Mei, Tanya, Jade, Bo-Rai Cho, Dairou, and Hotaru beg to differ as they all distinctly have a "non-white" appearance.

Every character who was born in Outworld that isn't a monster looks Asian. All the architecture looks Asian. The whole realm is "Evil feudal Japan".

Uhh, each of those, with the exception of Tanya, and maybe Jade in MKD look like they could plausibly be white. So fine, you pointed out two, or 1 and a half really. Sorry I said EVERY.

I don't think the outworld characters look asian at all. What do you think asians look like?

Li Mei looks like she might be half asian, and Kitana in MK gold looked asian, but the rest of them MOSTLY look white, with the exceptions noted above, nitpickers, and NONE of them, male or female, look entirely asian. Only Liu Kang really has asian features. Even Kung Lao seems like he could be white or latino.

No one is half Asian in this game. Li Mei isn't even Asian, she is from Outworld, but majority of the human-like creatures from that realm have a natural Asian look as what Razor clearly stated. You are over speculating way too much... As for a person who went to an extreme length to admire a character that has no name, no personality, nothing in an ending, I should have at least expected this thread to go way too out of control.

So basically the title of this thread should be: "The Asian looking characters in MK don't look Asian enough to me."

Like I said, she sorta looks asian, but the character models' faces in MKD were so ugly it was kinda hard to tell. Maybe they were trying to go over the top in giving her asian features, but that face looks like some kid drew a picture of a white girl and then gave her "slanty-eyes."

i dont get why everyone is getting so mad over this. the OP doesn't think any of the characters look asian. I think that is kind of true. I think that it makes sense for a character named li mei (a chinese name) to look asian. she also wears samurai armor in her deception/armageddon alt (japanese, although this is more alluding to how her soul was transfered into those samurai zombie things in her DA ending).

point being, li mei is clearly supposed to be asian, and she doesn't look it. is this thread really so offensive?

bo rai cho is the same way, he's clearly supposed to be asian, but doesn't look it at all.

I always thought tanya and jade were black, but they've been getting whiter each game :( so who even knows.

No character is specifically Asian, the only characters that actually have a race to be associated with are the characters from Earthrealm. They either were stated that they're Chinese or American.

All the other characters have some sort of Asian influence behind it. They are not Asians, they are from different realms, which means they are basically aliens in some fashion.

Though, they have Asian influences on them. Such as Hotaru. His character alone proves so much that there's Asian influence written all over that. This game is based on Kung Fu movies and things related to that, there's a whole lot of Asian influence in this game in general.

I see this thread more as a joke basically. Because no one is ever going to agree with races... Not like they clearly stated that Outworld creatures have other races rather than being Tarkatan.

yeah, good, good, so instead of giving the outworld characters looks and features as diverse as you would expect to see from earthrealm races, let make them all ambiguously white, black or brown, GREAT IDEA!

I get what youre saying, they aren't "human" so to speak. But each character seems to have a clearly defined ethnic group in mind in their creation (except maybe shokans and tarkatans).

But you can't deny that although Darrius isn't a human, he looks black. And that Kitana, who is not human is white.

I understand your argument, and I know people won't agree on these things. But Its pretty safe to say that each humanoid character was created with a real ethnic group in mind.

I can deny that last part. As I said, save for Tanya and Sindel, all the Edenias have always looked Central American to me. (And Tanya looks South American black to me, so yeah).

And people are wondering why other users are being so rude to you. Please. Granted that this is from a wiki site, the amount of information on this page seems to be incredibly resourceful. Technically speaking in my perspective, I do not find any character that were not born in Earthrealm by human parents are humans.

Which means, Edenians, Outworld-ers, Chaosrealm inhabitants, Orderrealm inhabitants are not humans. They clearly look like humans, but they are not humans.

Others clearly will disagree with this point of view, but honestly speaking, I do not find any character that was not born in Earthrealm and is an Earthrealm inhabitant a human.

Aside from the fact that those pictures were so teensy you practically couldn't see anything, (how convenient, so if anyone calls "BULLSH** PBS," they can just say, oh, at higher resolution you can really see them better), most of those people obviously lied on their census form. There is NO WAY three of the ones that ended up in the black category were black.

That's the problem with letting people list their own race themselves.
