I dislike them. I would say that there should be no character that has them but I guess they should put ONE in just to be different from all of the shitty "cut-point" fatalities.

I want only two.
Sonya's and Kitana's.

Regardless f how gay that move is (note: if you think I mean that in a bad way, you should probably punch yourself) I never liked them. The only one who should have it is Sonya....and that's only if she gets an option for a Klassic Fatality.

I think it can work pretty well on an individual basis, depending on how it's executed.

Personally I loved Sonya's "Blow a kiss, burn you/squash you to death* Fatalities she had in MK3, because it showed the bitch was THAT bad ass she didnt even need to make physical contact with you to kill you. Plus it's a play on something that's normally quite feminine and playfull, and making it incredibly violent and sinister.

Kitana's Kiss of Death in Mk2 was her best, followed closely by her Deadly Alliance Kiss. I wasn't fond of her UMK3 one that made the opponent stretch vertically in all honesty, or how her opponent just explodes without any sort of inflation or magical residue in Shaolin Monks. I'd be glad to see it back if the developers can make that kiss much more shocking. Perhaps even have Kitana behave a bit sultry on the lead up to the kiss, slightly cackle after she's kissed them, and with the improvement in graphics actually see the muscles/veins/limbs of the enemy swell and distort before the burst apart. It just needs to be more visual, atmospheric and gruesome, I always thought it would look cool if they bled from the eyes before exploding.

The only two characters who should have a kiss are Kitana and Sonya in my opinion. Mileena's "Be Mine" fatality doesn't register as a kiss type fatality to me because she never technically kisses or simulates kissing, she just chews and mauls the face. And I like that about her, it's like she's making a mockery of Kitana's fatal kiss.

I love Mileena's where she sucks you up and spits out bones from MK2.

I personally think the kissing fatalities are terrible. I know it's a fictional game and all, but despite it being iconic what else does it have going for it? We're NEVER going to see veins bulging or people convulsing. I think Mileena's take on it has been the best. It's seductive, alludes to the kiss and is violent and awesome to see. Even with veins bulging and convulsing, I still don't think a kiss is exciting enough of a fatality. It's boring, and unless either woman has mega herpes that explode on impact I don't think it will ever make sense to me or look visually appealing.

NRS can do better than that at this point. Explody fatalities just look like crap in general.

I see no difference with Kitana being able to harness destructive energy within her lips and Scorpion being able to harness and summon hell fire. Maybe if her eyes glowed or something to show it's a magical skill it would make a lot more sense, but I personally like the kiss fatalities. They're over the top and illogical, which is exactly what made the Fatality's in Mortal Kombat so popular in the first place.

One just personally looks cooler in my opinion. Summoned hellfire is a helluva lot cooler than exploding lip power.

Good point. Different strokes for different folks, I do like the way he can summon fire but I also like the way Kitana and Sonya have the whole "Femme Fatale" vibe about them where their kisses can literally kill you. I think presentation plays a big part in it though, they can make Scorpion's flame summoning seem relatively believable because he's from Hell, perhaps if they elaborated on what it was that caused Sonya's and Kitana's kisses to be so fatal fans would enjoy it more. I personally would love to know what it is, I always assumed it was their Chi.

One thing I also thought was a little off-putting about the kiss fatalities is that they were all done by women. Sexist isn't the word I'd use to describe the kiss fatalities, but it feels kind of dismissive to the female characters to have so many of them use a kiss as their fatality.

Well technically of the 14 women who have ever been in Mortal Kombat, only 3 have ever used a Kiss in their fatalities (4 if you want to include Mileena's latest fatality, but I mean it in the sense of a literal kiss), not counting Khameleon in there since she never had her own original fatalities.

Nitara and Mileena both bite and eat their victims to death in previous fatalities where as Sonya, Kitana and Tanya have used a kiss/blowing kiss to kill their enemies in the past.

It would be interesting to see how they could incorporate sexuality and sex appeal in to some of the male's fatalities, but considering most of the roster is male I doubt NRS would do that for fear of rocking the boat too much.

Sad but true. From what I've seen on this site there are plenty of gay male MK fans, myself included. But I seriously doubt they would ever focus on a male character's sex appeal in moves or fatalities, because a man could do it to another man, which for some reason puts off some people.

I love Sonya's K-O-D in MK 1 and 3 (and would've liked it in DC if it didn't have to be T-rated. Loved that it was a love heart haha). I mean, it's both silly and cute, being a kiss, but also really violent, and it's something we're not seeing enough in the latest MKs (that is, skeletons. That's what used to freak me out so much about the 2D mks and MK4, is how theyd be destroyed down to their skeletons)

HOWEVER

I always hated Kitana's. The inflation kiss was so far beyond stupid -_- It didn't look good, it didn't make sense, it wasn't funny, didn't look painful. Was even worse once it got to 3D. Yuck.


I was a bit perturbed that the original girls seemed to "have" to have kiss related fatalities, for a while anyway. Sort of a bit...trite -_- But Sonya's at least is understandably iconic, so give her one (assuming they can animate it to look cool. The fire in the most recent outings has sucked)

Only Sonya and Kitana should have kiss fatalities. They work because they are both completely different.

Sonya blows something on them and they combust. I was always a fan, but it never made sense, shes a human, but she does have the pink rings, so its all good I guess. Not sure how they could update it.

Kitana kisses them and they magically explode. Kitana's kiss is a little more interesting and makes sense because Kitana is one of the magical characters. I really hope they update this fatality, its kinda like her signature. I will be disappointed if they dont. There is so much potential to make the fatality very gruesome.

Sonya's fire kiss? - Hell yeah! (but I liked her sickness kiss better)
Kitana's inflation kiss - Hell yeah!
Tanya's bonebreaker kiss? - HELL YEAH!!!

Jade having a plant-kiss? - HELLL YEAHHHHH!!

Jade kisses you and vines grow from their eyes and out of their flesh, ripping the victim apart from the inside out.

How does Kitana's not make sense and Sonya's does make sense? Kitana is magic. Sonya is not magic, she is human. So Sonya's kiss and pink ring projectile make a lot less sense than Kitana's kiss fatality, because like I said, Kitana uses magic.

I would also say that Kitana's is much more "iconic" because if you ask people about a kiss fatality, most times the first person who comes to mind is Kitana.
