While I think Joss Whedon makes some of the strongest, best-written female characters, I think you're delirious if you think all the women in that show were "averaged sized, still attractive" girls. They were GORGEOUS women, some of the hottest and sexiest stars at the time. Every one of them, from Christina Carpenter to Alyson Hannigan to Sarah Michelle Gellar were absolute knockouts that scored perfect 10s on "hot girls way out of your league" card.

yet they werent "stacked". Sarah is a tiny thing, as is Allison Hannigan. Eliza Dushku is built like a good scrapper actually. A fine example she is. She's not six feet tall and not zero body fat. I bet her punch would hurt.

Speaking of Buffy RE high heels.... Yes, it IS possible to fight in stilettos. Sarah Michelle Gellar's and co's stunt doubles were doing it constantly throughout that show, and there's been enough other movies where it's happened to say "it's possible". Modern dancers and pop stars have shown that yes, you can go flying around a stage in stilettos too (just recently I saw a Kylie Minogue performance and DAMN if she couldn't run in those heels)....

So... it is "possible" that it could be done.

In Sonya's case... no. However awesome I think the heels are, they really don't fit her. Mileena you can rationalize and Kitana I can in a roundabout sort of kinda justify way... But not Sonya.

The rest of her however I think looks pretty badass. It does, to me, look like a military outfit (the colour scheme etc) that's been modified as she's been in the middle of a fighting tournament... I'm sure she didn't keep on her body armour/tactical vests and such in a martial arts round.

And her face is like damn. Finally they can do women :D

Not sure why Kitana is getting the whore reputation. She basically looks the way she's always looked. The revealing mid-section isn't THAT big of a difference.

Obviously, Mileena is as whorish as they get, but I feel the appearance is justified. No reason to beat the horse any further.

Still wish Sonya had an undershirt. I don't feel the revealing look works for her character (Kitana is at least from a different world with different cultural standards). But as I've said before, I just wish she looked more like Sonya and not some random combat blonde. Had I seen the pic with no context, I would have had no idea that was Sonya. Also agree that she looks unnecessarily thin. I would have made her a bit more full-bodied.

In all seriousness, your point about Sonya is the biggest problem with her overall design - there's nothing about it that says "Sonya" other than the fact that she's blonde. Sure, she doesn't need to have a whole military regalia ala her MK:DA alt (although that would be nice seeing as how, you know, an army chick is basically what she is) but something, anything indicative of who she is as a character would go far. As it stands the stripper vest and pants do nothing

See... I find their is plenty about her that says "Sonya" to me... minus the heels and the boobage.

The vest looks military. It seems to have an insignia on the left brest. She's got a dark greenish/grey (whatever colour it is) scheme that looks base military and she's got combat boots (again minus the heels)...

It's a bit blandish yeah, I would've preferred more colour variation... but it seems as much to be Sonya as say, MK4 was (which was quite the departure for her back then too)... I'd rather this colour and look than anything in camo, to be honest... Why would she be in camo when she's chasing criminals not iraqi insurgents? :P lol

Kitana's body does not look good in that picture, she should be tight and slim. Sonya should not be wearing heels. She needs to be wearing combat boots. The heels work for Kitana/Mileena/Sindel/Jade, but not Sonya.
