May I just say that the Cathedral arena looks AMAZING?

It seems like they're taking the best artistic elements of a mosque and church with a good old fashioned sacrafice altar in the middle and making it into one beautiful piece of achitecture.

You're overlooking the bigger picture because that's the easiest way to rationalize this in your mind. Mortal Kombat doesn't have "big beefy men". There's a fine line with having a few characters look sexually appealing because of their character biographies (Mileena or Johnny Cage) but there's a problem when characters that shouldn't look a certain way end up being watered down to simple "ooooh HOT!" designs.

Not all males in MK are oversexed and ridiculous, and so far all 3 females in this game have been.

Also, watch the scans guys. Even if it's just "some Russian magazine", they have exclusive rights to these images. We will do our best to find out when images will be made available online and post them once they are.

I'm not seeing how that's a good post, unless Reptile is some stud all of a sudden. Scorpion and Sub-Zero don't show off their bodies (or lack thereof) much either. There's a difference and for some reason people refuse to acknowledge it. Every female character is being oversexed for no reason and against their own character personalities.

I completely agree, Crow. Sonya's look simply does not fit her personality (or lack therof). Sonya's whole thing is "Can we punch it?!" From everysthing I've ever seen of her she has the personality of a rather simple man. Why would she be flashing her shit everywhere???

MK has given us beautiful women, deformed freaks, four-armed mutants, silver-haired banshees, and a girl with icicles for hair... They have only shown us THREE women... two of which are technically hot twins and all three of them have been considered sex symbols by the gaming community for quite some time (like 20 years, guys). Give them some time to get to the less "ideal" women, eh? Yes, because obviously Nina has ALWAYS looked the same. Games change, along with art styles. Soul Calibur's characters have gone through drastic facial changes throughout each installment. Sometimes a look is simply hit or miss, and almost no character has ever been an exception to this rule.

So you use Mileena as an example and then ignore it saying she's "technically hot"? No, she wasn't. They made her this way after many years. The same way they took Sonya and removed her shirt and gave her stilettos. Why are you asking anyone to have faith they won't even make Sheeva in this same vein? It wouldn't be that hard to make her attractive.

I'm not even talking about attractive though, nothing says you can't look good with your clothes on. Some people seem to struggle with the very idea of a "beautiful" woman that actually likes wearing clothing.

There's only one "less ideal woman" in the franchise who has reason to appear on this roster, and she's usually the most naked of all.

Unless you find Sindel unattractive, but dressing trampy is actually in character for her, since she's the villain's mind controlled trophy wife.

that example of sheeva is bad. By Shokan standards she is the same as sonya , millena, etc. Not an ounce of fat on her. Tall, leggy, same as everyone else.

You cant use Mileena as an example. She still looks like a mess under the mask and guys are still wanting to insert themselves.

Ashra still has the same basic physique as the others, just covered in the blah-est costume ever.

The closest Sonya's ever come to looking like an agent representative of a US military organization was her MKDA alt - and she was still wearing heels. Maybe her brief MKSM appearance (in which there was still visible thong), but I'd put it lower on the rung.

Honestly, I'm surprised so much of a fuss is being made over her current outfit. People have different standards for sexiness and whatnot, but for me, this is something of a tone-down from her MKDC look. There's no visible thong, at least, and I'd prefer her to be wearing what she is now than have her wearing that...*ahem* weather-detector from MKDC. Really, I'm okay with this. It really reminds me of her MK1 gear, only it's not overtly aerobic.

I understood when Kitana's outfit caused a bit of a stir, but then she was visible chained to Kahn's throne at one point. Think Slave Leia, and there you have it. Perhaps she doesn't want to dress that way either.

And there's been a focused, concentrated effort to add a strong element of sexuality to Mileena going back to at least Deception - which works - so I don't think she even bears discussing.

Bottom line, most gamers are young men and hormone-crazed teenagers and sex sells. That's the real reason, but looking it from a different angle - Scorpion has never once resembled your typical ninja in any way shape or form. Doesn't bother most people; he looks badass. Sonya doesn't resemble your typical US operative, but she looks badass and sexy - which is what the target demographic wants.

Okay, so a strong woman isn't your cup of tea. Big breasts apparently aren't either. You overlook the flaws of the "monstrous" girls and focus on their good qualities, but you apparently don't want them to have those good qualities. You don't want a girl that's completely covered, but neither one with a provocative outfit. Just what type of girl DO you want in the game?

Off the top of my head, all the girls from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer seires kicked alot of ass and pretty much led the whole "Strong, Independant Woman" trend in the 90s. (NOT the movie, barf.)
