Metal shoulders again? Ugh.

Sweet, first news credit of the summer... Took a while.

Anyway, Scorpion looks pretty freaking cool if I do say so myself, something about him, I jsut can't stop staring.

And as others have said, Raiden's costume is perfect, though I miss the plain white costume, I guess I can hope it's the alternate

i love that the hilt of his sword is in the shape of a stinger from a real scorpion. love that attention to details. raiden looks like raiden; i have no opinion either way other than i wish he looked more big trouble in little china.

The stingers on the pommel look nice I guess, if they would be smaller and not so bulky it actually may pass as an actual useful decoration.

Anyway looks alright to me. I'm not really a Scorpion connoisseur, so I can't tell if it's his best costume ever or whatever, but it doesn't hurt my eyes. As long as he still says "Get over here" from time to time and harpoons some guys, then I'll be happy.

True, but an upward bent shoulderplate is everything, but practical.

The purpose of armor is to deflect and slide off impacts. Now, an upward blow from any edged weapon would easily penetrate a shoulder blade, not to mention the shoulders themselves are open on the sides of Raiden.

Same here, I love the detail they emphasized from his name and incorporated it to his design this time around. Now if you were to live under a rock and never knew of Scorpion and saw him at first glance, you'd probably guess his name right lol.

Anyways, Scorpion looks badass, best design yet. I was getting sick of that UMK design. Raiden looks exactly like he did in MK4, which is not a bad thing. Just kinda wish he was all white again like in MK1. I'd also like to see the lightning graphics around him when he's fighting or just standing still.

I miss Raiden's MK2 look =/ Hopefully we'll get it as an alt!

well. not to be your enemy Chrome, but it COULD actually keep the manouverablility of the Neck at a high level while deflecting any horizontal sliced aimed for decapitation. But if somebody was after that, id think simple shoulder spikes would work..

Scorpions look is alright. I think they're starting to go a little overboard with the scorpion stuff on his houtfit. I'm not really a fan of the plating or whatever on the top of his head, though I'm sure I'll get used to it. The shoulder pads are decent, but I'm mostly luke warm to the outfit as a whole. It's alright, but I think that so far, Reptile's update has been my favorite.

That mask isn't so bad as long as I don't look straight at it.

His alternate costume should just be a mascot-sized Scorpion suit. You know, because they love the literal scorpion imagery so much.

That requires a fool who slices through shoulder's height. That in it's entirety is not appropriate. Anything heavier than a gladius would not be deflected, but it would cut into the plate immediately and enlodge itself. A thin, italian battle sword from the 13th. c. could simply carve through that.



I know for a fact that that thing would prove to be absolutely useless. And not to mention striking force trauma (european swords) which would simply bypass it and shred the shoulder blades through impact alone.

Simply put shoulder spikes are fictional decorations. No functional armor has them. We are of course speaking on a realistic term. In MK where people can pul each other's spine out it is different, but still, from this viewpoint they are decoration.

Anyone else think Raidens hat looks too big in that picture? at least he has his long sleeves back though, he loooked awful in MK vs DC

Well I like Subs and Raiden's cover far more. Maybe cuz their renders are looking more realistic. The Scorpion cover just seems to be drawn.

And bout his outfit... Dunno a bit too much details on it. Prefer the simple ones like Raiden, Kung Lao and Sub

if you really want to get into the debate of how and why scorpian's shoulder armor is bent up then i'd say yes it's not used for protection as much as it is for representing his clan(as they might wear something similar) and/or for striking fear into the hearts of his foes. It might sound funny but thats why the wafflin ss did in ww2. Their spikes on the tip of their helments were a symbol of fear. Also mongolians are very fearsome looking if you see them in their war outfits...
