For characters, Rain is number 1. I would have liked either Fujin or Shinnok, but it does make more sense to save them for the next game. There was a post from Ed Boon saying come back in a year and tell me Fujin is in. we assume he's referring to Fujin not being a dlc in MK9, but maybe he's referring to Fujin being in MK10 and a first reveal before E3 could potentially be in a year's time from now, if the game were to be out at the end of next year, which is possible but nothing more than speculation. Tanya would be good too. Arenas I would love to see are The Bank, Kombat Tomb, and Portal. Maybe Kahn's Kave as well, and the Palace Gates. I don't see them doing Waterfront, Bridge, original Pit design or anything that's too similar to what's already there. I would guess the Wu Shi Academy could be in, since it was shown in Story mode. Maybe that Elder gods stage too. all classic ninja costumes will obviously be dlc,, and likely those MK2 female costumes as well at least. More fatalities would be cool, it would be nice to see one utilize the blood splattering on the screen like in the Krypt, unless one of the boss fatalities I havent seen already does that.

i love the idea of unmasked subzero as a dlc costume but didnt that sub zero now become cyber subzero in this game. not much of a problem as it could be cyber sz alternate dlc costume seen as he hasn't got any at all at the moment.
p.s i hope they bring reiko and rain as dlc characters

How would you make Kai popular?
- What moves? New story? He should be the next champion to replace Liu. Its his chance to shine while Kang becomes king of Edenia.

#1 Chameleon, but old school when he morphed, but he can still have his own moves to balance him out(I'd rather have combinations) #2 Some MK Anthology Characters would be pretty sick(Nightmare,Dark, ext. >:0 #3 Skarlet because I love the chick moves, and I wonder what her new moves will be #4 Bring on the classic costume downloads #5 I miss Motaro
1.Rain-Hes another awsome ninja.
2.Motaro-Should of been a boss when the game first came out.
3.Chameleon-Hes also another awsome ninja.
4.Khameleon-Shes another awsome female ninja.
5.New Story-To continue with the last story.
6.MK4 Characters-For the new story if we get one.
7.Alternate Costumes-They r awsome.
8.Some More Classic Costumes-They r also awsome.
9.Cyber Smoke-Thats how he got his start and he makes another awsome cyber ninja.
10.More Arenas-Some arenas that were left out like that Portal one and Motaro's Lair and i think there were a few more.

I dont see the point in holding off too much on characters that would "work better" for a sequel. By that, I mean I think an expansion pack would suit the game better than a sequel really would. Add Shinnok and Fujin to an expansion pack that would feature a story mode for Mortal Kombat 4 (and possibly Deadly Alliance)'s story. No real need for another game built from the ground up for awhile, I figure. Let things happen with this.

I posted this in the DLC Feedback (Characters) but thought it would fit here as well. Enjoy.
Havik
He is the only representation we've had from Chaosrealm. He's one of the more unique characters in post MK3 world and his moveset would be a nice addition to MK9 if it was cleaned up like Sheeva and Baraka. He has a cameo in Noob's ending so NRS have already made a design for him for 2011 (initial design granted, not character model).
Appearance: His main costume would reflect the barbarian look from Noob's ending and his secondary should be an update of his priest outfit in MKD.
Specials:
Torso Spin: The same spinning, bone-cracking move from MKD. The sfx in MK9 were amazing so anything Havik does with twisting cartilage is going to sound great. It would still be an auto 3-hit combo and could be linked in with normal combos.
- Enhanced - Torso Tornado: A few more hits are added to the combo and Havik's rotations make him life off the ground a litte for the final blows.
Diving Corpse: Again pretty much the same as the MKD incarnation. However, depending on the opponent's location, Havik can use this move as a launcher. It can obviously go under fireballs as well.
- Enhanced - Driving Corpse: If the slide connects, Havik stops and grabs his opponent once they fall back down. He then snaps his spine backwards and suplexes them.
Crack Shot: Havik cracks his legs back and launches a low fireball.
- Enhanced - Cracked Spring Shots: Havik launches his low fireball and from his awkward stance springs upwards, He launches another fireball from the air down towards his opponent.
Snapback: Havik contorts his torso in such a way that it's turned 180 degrees. If he is hit in this state, his back snaps into face spinning his arms around with so much force that sends the opponent flying. If a combo is performed on Havik while he is in this state, the amount of damage done back to opponent is increased.
- Enhanced - Backsnap: Havik's controtion is more fierce this time round and if he isn't hit by the end of the move, he gains a little health. If he is hit, he absorbs that damage and hits the opponent like usual. This move can be nullified with a projectile.
Neckbreaker: This is the same idea as the Head Snap in MKD. Havik whips his head back and then whips it back forward. If the move is completed, he gets some health back.
- Enhanced - Steve's Neckbreaker: Havik snaps one of his legs backwards and then forces his head back with so much force that he spins around and possibly hits his opponent. After the spin, he puts his head back right and regains health if he's successful.
Front Throw: Havik grabs his opponent and compresses his body like his Corpse Taunt move from MKD. He slams their face into the ground and they bounce back.
Back throw: Havik grabs his opponent and turns his legs180 degrees. He then folds his body the same way he did for his front throw but this time he compresses away from where his opponent was standing. During this, he tosses his opponent across the screen. He then twists his torso back on track with his legs so he is facing his downed opponent.
X-ray:
Necking: During Havik's neckbreaker, if he activates his x-ray right as his opponent hits him (not with a fireball) he spins them around and snaps their arm backwards. Keep in mind that his head is facing the opposite way right now because he was unable to finish his move. So he uses the opponent's dislocated arm and places it on his head.
He twists their hand with his own to straighten his neck (all with x-ray vision of course). Not wanting his foe to miss any of the action, Havik puts his head on his opponents scalp and twists it back. As we see the top of their spine shattering they spin around (I almost feel that if it's Havik v Havik, he shouldn't spin around at this point but any x-ray move done on him would not make any sense anyway). Havik smiles at his opponent and then yanks their arm back in place like a lever. This sends them to the floor.
Round Entrance Taunt: Havik walks out and cracks his neck to the side. He doesn't seem satisfied with this and starts to crack all his appendages in impossible ways. He whips everything back to place and says, "The fight will last long after this match and will continue forever!"
Mid-match Taunt: Havik falls to the floor like his opponent. As his opponent rises he contorts his body to stylishly get back up.
End-match Taunt: Havik faces away from the camera as it zooms up to him. He cracks his head back and we are able to see the gruesomeness of bones and skin in places they shouldn't be from his freakish ability. He smiles at the camera much like he does for his hara-kiri in MKD.
Fatalities:
Pencil Neck: This is a variation on Havik's very strange Human Pencil Sharpener and a little sprinkle of Batter Up from MKD. The cleric of chaos grabs one of his opponent's legs and rips it off. His opponent falls. He then brings out his morning star (which wouldn't be completely absent, he would pull it out for some combos) and starts clubbing the attached leg into a pulp.
He then takes the maimed leg and starts devouring it from the foot on. He stops midway, picks his teeth with the spikes on his mace and keeps eating. Soon after, he starts choking on a piece of the leg. Havik lets go of his opponent, who is still alive and screaming in agony, and starts giving himself the Heimlich Maneuver. He spits up a sharp piece of bone that hits the opponent's jugular and causes a fountain of blood to spring forth thereby completing the fatality.
Heart-y Meal: Havik stands behind his opponent. He snaps his arms back and grabs at his opponent's chest from underneath their armpits (it's like that improv game where one person stands behind another and pretends to be the second personds pair of arms). He proceeds to tear their heart out and then place it in one of his opponent's hands. Havik guides the hand clenching the heart to their mouth and then uses his other arm to grab their head. Using the corpse like a marionette, Havik feeds them their own heart.
Babality: The same demon dog that runs to catch Kung Lao's hat runs around baby Havik. He rotates his neck 360 degrees to watch the dog run around him. After the hell beast leaves the screen, the baby spins his head back to it's original position. Havik's eyes spin a little as he is dizzy. He tries to get up but falls on his bottom and begins to cry.

So how many DLC characters do you think we'd get?
Honestly, I don't think we're getting more than four. This is based on how the DLC Slots work.
For the DLC Slots, we have two CSZ's, each only selectable by the player on that side. When highlighted, the DLC slots slide out revealing the DLC characters for that player (so if one player has no DLC, they'll just see Kratos slide out, while the other will see Kratos and Skarlet and whoever slide out). However, there is only room for 5 slots to slide out before hitting the edge of the screen. And Kratos takes one of those slots. Then we know Skarlet and Kenshi take two more, so that leaves only two left (Rain? Tanya? Fujin?).
The only solutions I can see is if you get more than 5 characters then a second row of DLC characters will pop up when you select CSZ and you'll have to press left/right to select Kratos and then up to get to the second row (because pressing up from CSZ would select Raiden or Shang Tsung and cause the DLC slots to slide back behind CSZ). Though doing that would push the character names even further up and we don't know if the UI is even designed to do that.
Wish a hacker somewhere could figure out a way to clone DLCBASEMALE1 several times to see what the game does when it thinks it has more than 5 characters for the dlc slot.
Four DLC characters is a lot for a fighting game though (more than any other that I'm aware of since BlazBlue only had 3, MVC3 had 2, and SC4 only had 1). Though SSF4AE will be equaling that number when they release next week with 4 characters, but that's essentially a whole new game revision so may not count.

The DLC Feedback thread I made specifically for characters died out, so I'll just continue posting here.
E3 2011: Ed Boon Interview (Stream) HD
For those who haven't watched Ed's latest interview with Gametrailers, check it out. In regards to DLC, the number one topic that caught my attention was the current plan described by Ed:
- Downloadable characters will be the primary form of DLC.
- Currently for this summer, at least 4 characters are planned.
- According to Ed, our response to Skarlet (initial reactions, # of downloads, etc.) will dictate future DLC plans.
What are your thoughts?

Close, Motaro's lair is the Balcony, but it does overlook the Soul Chamber stage in MK3.
So the classic skins are available to download now? I have 360 and when I go to 'Downloadable Content' it says nothing is available. Is the process for downloading these really more complicated than just going to the download section?? My hopes of the next 4 DLCS: - Skarlet - Kenshi - Shinnok - Frost

From the way Ed as mentioned Rain in older interviews and on Twitter, I think it's safe to assume Rain will be the third character.
Basing the fourth character solely on this chart, one could say Tanya will take the slot. However, we can't forget that this chart only serves as a representation of our community's choices for DLC. It's hard to guess at this time, but I'd say the fourth slot is reserved for either Shinnok or Tanya. Cyber Smoke is another possibility, but with Cyber Sub-Zero, he'd be redundant. We'll see.
Regarding Skarlet, if Ed is truly sincere about what he said about her popularity and future DLC plans (beyond the currently planned 4), then I think it would be wise for all of you hesitant consumers to give her a shot in hopes of receiving more content down the road.

For the love for all that is holy i will lose it if Cyber Smoke is made his own character. there is already a smoke character in the game, so that would be a waste of a slot, considering both characters would have similar moves. I say just make Cyber Smoke a downloadable alt costume for human smoke

-I would like to see Scorpion in LIVING FORM, as opposed to dead spectre...You can give him a Klassic Yellow ninja outfit (maybe without the mask?), but disable his supernatural powers, and give him all new moves...Keeping only his spear!...that would be interesting...
-Klassic Cyrax and Sektor from MK3
-MK1 Kostumes for ALL 7 of the original fighters (I'd also like to see Shang Tsung in his original floating form...kicks disabled?!)
-MK1, 2, and 3 Kostume alternatives for everyone. Maybe even revamped and improved MK4 outfits.
-Extra "-ALITIES"...If you notice, when beating the game with Nightwolf, ANIMALITIES are infact mentioned...So they do still exist and come into play within the storyline.
-Make a few stages "STAGE FATALITY-ENABLED", such as the obvious Bell Tower and maybe the Rooftop with that dragon!!! Plus, between all 8+ games that have been made already, there's unlimited possibilities to include several other arenas...Warrior Shrine, Pit 3, Portal Stage (with the floating monks), and so on...
-Obviously add more DLC characters. Skarlett and Kenshi are a good start. But I would personally like to see Fujin, Rain, Reiko, and Drahmin...AND definetly some NEW characters...again, Skarlett is fantastic...something we haven't seen before...The possibilities are limitless. They could even invent a new fighter every month...lolol
-I think it would be cool to have new downloadable special moves or even combos! But I think that would be a bit much.
-Definetly more AVATAR stuff. I wanna see more masks, costumes, and props.
-General DLC like GAMER PICS and THEMES for the 360..
-I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, a DLC for "CUSTOMIZABLE SOUNDTRACK!!!" to where you can take select tracks of your favorite music and assign them to the various arenas!!! Then like when you choose an arena on 2 player mode, and if you push START, you select different stage music, another button can enable YOUR music...Right now you can shut off the game music and pop on background music, but its just constantly running and not changing with the arenas....
