Fucking awesome, finally a good interview. This guy actually went out on a limb to try and get info we didn't have yet. This interview has me A LOT more exited about the game for some reason.

My guess is that Animalities will return, and not in the cartoonish glowing cardboard cutout way that they did for MK3, but like the awesome Liu Kang from MK2, and Scorpion from MK4 kind of way, for every character, that would be so bad ass!

Another thing where he said from the game round robin game lobby you can see streaks people currently have and how many people are in the game is sick as hell to. God damn Spring 2011 can't come fast enough.

Bringing this up from my topic , just forth sake of it not being wasted ,

1) The classic Spine Rip may return using today's technology . It may be something different from the E3 one .

2)Moves in the moves list are composed of around 3 buttons . They are shorter but easier to be linked with each other .

3) Big guys are in the game . Most likely more than one Shokan .

4)You can split the head above the tongue . Kinda like an old movie posted in this forums that I am not able to find .

5) The team is trying to bring back all the stage fatalities within the stages returning .

6)The belltower has a stage fatality .

7)An old character that didn't exist at some point will exist now .

8) One of the old 3 Animalities , friendships or babalities is going to return .


9)Release date is somewhere between Feb to April .

I don't forsee a large commotion over the character comment. There's only three possibilities: Zebron, Hornbuckle, and Belokk. I don't think anyone has really strong feelings about any of those characters.

I'm a Zebron enthusiast, and even I don't plan on arguing across the forum for his benefit.

I'm kinda surprised TP's thread doesn't have more responses. This interview was good, but the other one confirmed post-mk3 characters.
EDIT: I didn't really forget Nimbus, I just think he has almost no chance of happening. I just... no.

Really sweet interview ^_^ Im most excited about the fact that the game could be released in february hahaha. I love the king of the hill mode online and i cant wait to see the belltower stage fatality as well as which other form of fatality will return. I really hope its animalaty.

Belokk is nothing. He's just some shitty MK Gold concept.

Skarlett, Tremor, Nimbus Terrafaux, Zebron, Hornbuckle. I'd take Zebron or Nimbus, but I don't really want another "rumor" character.

I agree, and I hope he's not the choice. But he does have the advantage of an actual character model. Unlike the other characters, he was designed, rendered, and actually intended to be in one of the games.

I did forget about Skarlett, though.

I placing my -ality ballot on Animality. Babalities were all the same and stupid. Friendships were just... no.

As for a character that wasn't a character I would have to guess Hornbuckle, but they'll give him (her maybe?) a different name because c'mon, Hornbuckle? Sounds like a Leprechaun.

It's unlikely Belokk is even owned by Mortal Kombat. He was being produced by an outside company, which is why it sort of fell through in the end. I would not expect to see him at all, especially since that was MK4 anyway.

Don't forget though, the MK team likes putting ideas in people's heads. I would take everything he said with a grain of salt. Plus, Ed has said several times that none of those -alities will be back, so someone isn't being truthful. Personally I hope it's him, because I really, really don't want to see any of that crap in this game.

I'm gonna be pulling for Zebron and Brutalities.

You guys realize that Tremor doesn't qualify as "hidden character that didn't exist" right? He was never rumored to be hidden anywhere, and he does actually exist in Special Forces.

Also, are people really rallying for animalities? We do remember how great they were the last time we saw them, right? Maybe I'm giving an unfair example, but you can't say it's wrong for Sub-Zero to turn into a snowman but perfectly acceptable for Scorpion to turn into a penguin.

I really don't remember , but wasnt he supposed to be in MKT ? and the fact that he was somewhere printed in the manual led people to think he is there .

You know it is safe to consider MKT in the coming sequel .

Rain maybe, he was rumored to start in mk2, but never was unlockable. Hmm that would be nice.

He was going to be in the game, but Rain replaced him. The main point I was wanting to make was that he's not like other rumored characters because he in fact does exist.

I'm just excited about the possibility (though I'm not, at this point, assuming anything along the lines of "definitely" or even "likely") that a character from the past, in the series lit, fan references or otherwise could be in the game.

As much as a lot of people seem to want MK1-MK3 characters only, I really want to see at least ONE "new" character.

I'm curious as to how this whole "stringing" combos is actually going to work. Or rather, how intuitive it will be. They keep stressing the idea of being easy to pick up and play but still having a lot to offer seasoned fighter veterans. Of course, that's the goal of any fighting game creator, so I wonder how close they'll actually come.

As for the -alities... Ugh, please make a new -ality and don't recycle one of those three that you mentioned. Friendships were kind of amusing the first time around, but by the second time you saw them, they just looked stupid.

Animalities will forever, in my mind, be tied to two of the worst parts of the MK franchise: Large neon colored animals killing MK characters in MK3 and the end fight scene in the 2nd MK movie. So yeah, no thanks.

Babalities? Well, I didn't despise them, but I also never really saw the need for them either. It was never a source of trash talk in the group of people I used to play MK2 with back in the day, like "ooooh dude! I just turned you in to a baby! Cry little baby, cry!" Never happened.

I wouldn't mind seeing brutalities return, but they'd have to be character specific with character's special moves and what not being used. Plus you'd have to get some intermittant X Ray effect as well. Of course, absolutely no explosions. No characters having 10 rib cages and 40 femurs, though I think that's a safe bet right now.

Great interview, glad the intrigue is flying around too! I love the guessing games, for sure!
