Holy shit, Kung Lao's flowing gameplay looks so beautiful! I thought he was fast before... Always loved his hyper "IMANYHITYOU!!" attacks.

Interesting changes, and additions to Liu Kang & Jax aswell. Most hyped for Kung Lao.

I don't understand why the Jax hate is so strong in these forums. He's been one of my favorites going back to MKII. In fact, he is probably my overall most used character in the franchise. I have just always gravitated toward him pretty much automatically in every game he's been in. Ground pound, gotcha grab, backbreaker, missiles, his machine gun move. He's just very versatile and has an action hero swagger/aesthetic to him that I love.

So, Liu Kang has the best fatal Blow for me so far. I mean... the dragon bites the enmy and then vanishes inside him... cool! I just hope for klassic fatalities with dragon for Liu Kang. His gameplay seems a lot of fun with lot of potencial to do nasty combos. I love what i saw there. And the fatality was better than both of him in MKX. Finally something that shows his powers.

Ok, Kung Lao is the new IP-Man :) Like Liu he has so much potencial for awesome combos and crazy stuff. I hope i can handle him. His gameplay just looks so fast. His fatality is an overkill, like Baraka's one but I liked it. It is just pure style. But I don't like his look so far. I hope there are good alternative choices for Kung Lao.

I appreciate the mechanik behind Jax' arms and I am really glad they make him more a grabbler. He has some cool moves and a great fatal blow, but this fatality... hm... so lame. With Kano one of the lamest so far... I hope his second one is better.

Each to their own, he's just not my cup'o tea. You might even dislike some of my faves. I don't think I've ever hated him... just never liked him. However, I think they chose the wrong model to be his face in this game. It just doesn't suit the character. Looks like a teenage wannabe gangster rather than high-ranking military adult.

I am in agreement with you that the face model doesn't really suit him. I guess in my mind Jax should always look like John Parrish with the mustache and everything.

It's nothing against you personally and i'm not naming anyone in particular, but i'm talking about people disliking Jax because of the amount of melanin in his skin. It's the blatant dog whistle terms that people like to throw around like "thug" and "gangster" but it's an ugly subject most don't want to talk about

To be fair here, I haven't noticed anyone around this forum say anything dog-whistlish about Jax... or Jacqui, for that matter. Unless you're reading into things past the actual intention. Most of the comments I'm seeing here are about how Jax is "boring," largely because he's been around so long, and there's a decent amount of overlap between the folks who think Jax is boring and who think any of the classics are boring. Racism exists, and I've seen it pop up around here in other contexts, but I'm not seeing it having a significant influence in this instance. Maybe in other forums people are dog-whistling about Jax, but this one's the only one I hang around in so....

For my part, I don't think he's as boring as people make him out to be. He doesn't tend to get a lot to do in the stories so far and kinda seems like a filler-level character most of the time, but he always oozes style and personality all his own. I've really come to appreciate his characterization since MK9 and especially MKX. If older Jax really does take a turn for toward villainy in this game, as the recent trailer implies -- if the thing that Jacqui says is "messed up" is that her father wants to undo time, even if it means she herself may not be born -- then that's a hell of a character turn that could give him a real kick in the pants. He might not be exactly likable afterward, but he would sure as hell be compelling and for once, very important.

The comments i'm referring to are not just on this particular forum but what i've seen across social media platforms regarding MK11 posts (character renders ect.)That's why i'm not naming anyone in particular because I haven't seen those sentiments pop up here recently like you said it's most people claiming he's a boring character around these parts. When I said Jax is still meh, I meant how he plays. I just don't like it. I like his new heating arms mechanic but that's it. I have nothing against a character, I actually like him as a character I just don't like how he plays.

But that's Jax, you can't really do anything drastically different because it would look stupid. This style suits him and it's not for everyone so maybe that's the reason other people don't like him. And because you can't do anything different he will be pretty much the same to us in any of the future games so I'd rather have someone else to take his slot. Someone like Smoke or Rain who look much more interesting and fun to play. Imo...

Not everything is about skin tone you admonish and yet you bring up this bizarre assumption that this person must love the movie Black Panther and imply anyone who thinks it's a great film only thinks so because of it being a "black movie". Which is why I was confused - as mentioned; it's not something seen on here. At least I've never seen it, but I tend to only come here now and then (usually around the release of a new MK game).

Throwing around comments like this could lead to people too scared to criticize him out of fear of being called a rasict. The thought certainly crossed my mind when I've made comments about his face model in this game. It's like criticising Last Jedi for being poorly written and then being called a sexist.

Feel free to call racists "racists". I'm not saying you shouldn't.

My point is that someone can make a valid point on something (that has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour) and then be called a racist because the character/person in question happens to have dark skin. Therefore the person making it a racial issue is the one crying "racism". Then things get widely off-topic, like it is here.

I understand what you're saying, but that's why I was careful with my wording and did not specially call anyone out because as it's been stated those sentiments have not been around these forums those were just some examples i've encountered recently on the likes of Facebook & Twitter in regards to the announcement of Jax and Jacqui. I'm not trying to jump to conclusions or make sweeping assumptions i'm simply bringing up another possible reason why some shitbags hate on Jax and Jacqui. Just food for thought is all I was trying to present. My apologies if my original comment made it seem like that was the ONLY reason anyone would dislike those characters that was not my intention.
