Fire God Liu Kang remakes the Mortal Kombat Universe as a new dawn begins in Mortal Kombat 1. The fight is in your blood as a new reality unfolds on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Watch the new trailer and get more details right here:
The trailer brings things back to a simpler time, but the intrusion of pre-order bonus playable character Shang Tsung unleashes turmoil upon the klassic kombatants, inspiring the wrath of MK11's FIre God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 will include an immersive new story mode featuring your favourite characters like you've never seen them, with new gameplay mechanics and fatalities.
Premium and Kollector's Edition releases will grant players early access September 14th, with an official street date of September 19th with prices beginning at $69.99. The $249.99 Kollector's Edition includes a 16.5" Liu Kang statue designed by COARSE, who created a memorable bonus for the Mortal Kombat X Kollector's Edition, with matching in-game skin, art prints, a steelbook case, and 1450 "Dragon Krystals" (in-game currency). Kollector's Edition is PlayStation and Xbox exclusive.
We can see some of a klassic returning roster in the trailer with emphasis on choice. Confirmed returning playable characters include: Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, and Shang Tsung, as well as Kameo Fighters -- a separate unique roster of assist characters who create expanded gameplay possibilities.
The announcement also confirms a downloadable content Kombat Pack included with Premium Editions including a Johnny Cage skin featuring the likeness of inspiration and iconic martial arts movie star Jean-Claude Van Damme available at launch, as well as six additional playable characters and five Kameo Fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 will continue to feature rollback netcode for responsive online play, with PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, and Nintendo Switch Online passes required for online play -- but not the main game. PC versions are being handled by QLOC with digital versions of the game to be sold via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
