Who did liu kang fight in the first mk movie?

I know this may sound stupid, but in mk the movie, there was a fight between liu kang and some black guy in the sand with bamboo sticks. Who was that?

Good point. And kabal wasn't introduced until mk3. I just has been getting at me. Everybody was in that movie for a purpose. But he did kinda look like kabal a little bit.

They said the fighter's name was never revealed. I guess he was just some competitor.

well everybody in ever mk movie and game had a purpose. He musnt of been that important, but just important enough.

I've watched the movie constantly but i cant seem to catch him on the credits. Do you think the fighters name would be in the credits?

The "black guy" you're talking about also came on another show called WMAC Masters. He was Hakim "the Machine" Alston. It was this martial arts show with storylines and everything. Like WWE, but with martial arts. That should help you, maybe.grin

Reading what was said earlier about this guy being Kabal made me think about who it could be...

How about Sektor?

If you've seen his MK:DOTR unmasked pic, then you can see the slight resemblence:



Storyline wise, you could loosely tie it all in (in the typical "MK movie's are relatively based off MK games" fashion).
- He is Sektor, before automation (movie was set before MK3).
- Shang Tsung took his soul, and as we all know, the cyborg's don't have souls.
- Sektor was one of the few characters from MK1-3 that did not to appear in MKAnnihilation, so perhaps his reason for omission was that he was in the automation process at the time.

So if Hakim Alston returns for MKDevestation and Sektor's in it, then why not tie it all up and add this little throwback of info to the first movie - nostalgic awesomeness I say!

Another minor character in the MK movie is Art Lean, the guy who get killed by Goro.

I am planning on Creating Art Lean and this guy in MKA create a character.

Yeah, he was just some guy that came on the ship to compete in the tournament. There were about 50 or so 'unknown' fighters that we don't even get to see them fight. A bunch came off the boats to the island, and they were eating b4 shang had his goons tip the tables over. they should have had some of those unknowns fight the main characters, rather than just shown the main 'game' characters' fights. It would have added alot to the movie. We don't even know what happens to all the other fighters, we're just supposed to assume they were all killed i guess.

Yea, I agree, if they had the other 'unknown' competitors fight Johnny, Liu, and Sonya, the movie would have been a lot longer and better
(though the movie was great anyway), we would have seen more funny fights and whatnot. IMO, the best fight was between Lui and that guy some of you keep saying looks like Kabal.
