It would make more sense to have the Sub/Scorp episode first. On imdb.com, they only have one guy playing SZ... I wonder if KT is still going with the canon of there being two Sub-Zeros or if it will be a non-issue. Based on the trailer, it seems like the episode mainly follows Scorpion, an Sub-Zero is cast in the light of "bad guy", which is an interesting take on the story. At least that is my interpretation of the trailer.

Why would he have reason to mention there being two Sub-Zeros if this is all origin story stuff (how Scorpion and his clan died, how Scorpion came back to life) and Kuai Liang doesn't come into play until after Scorpion gets his revenge on Bi-Han, which would be saved for the tournament?

No, I'm just guessing at what's going to be in the Scorpion episodes because I still remember the scenes shown in the trailer.
We saw Scorpion fight Sub-Zero in some empty, snowy forest, his wife and son getting killed, and him making a deal with Quan to attend the tournament. So it's pretty obvious we're gonna see Scorp's death but not Subbie's, since that happens at the tournament and the tournament isn't in this season at all.

At least this Quan Chi doesn't have the same costume he's worn for the past decade. Liked the different face tattoo as well, thought it kinda reminded me of Taven and Daegon's eye tattoos the way it was shaped.

I wasn't thinking there'd be any mention of two Sub-Zeros in the Scorpion/Sub-Zero episode, but maybe in the automation episode. Yes, I know Kuai Liang doesn't come into play until the second tournament, but neither does Cyrax, Sektor, or the automation process.
After all, the Rebirth trailer acknowledged there were two Sub-Zeros (Zeroes? Is there supposed to be an e there, like at the end of heroes?)

It'd be awesome to see a Kuai Liang cameo during the cyber ninja episodes, but I won't get my hopes up.

It's a proper name, so technically you don't add the E. That always gets me too though. It just seems to look better with one.
As for the Sektor/Cyrax stuff, I don't really expect to see any other Lin Kuei in there. Honestly, I'd be surprised if they even had a recognizable Grandmaster character pop his head up.

And if they did, I'd like to know what name they would give Sektor's dad. Otherwise, Oniro is it for now.
The episode leaves alot of unanswered questions, which is a good thing IMO. This leaves it open for more episodes or a movie. These episodes are around 9 mins long FFS that is no time to answer all the questions everyone wants answering.

Which is probably not a bad reason to avoid posing them with little or not balancing substance to the story.

I'm late to this party but, here's my take on my favorite characters episode.
This episode does well because it takes that risk we saw in the pitch. I like it for that reason but, I feel like if there were some better ways to deal with the campy stuff, this episode would have been even better.
Raiden in a mental asylum is a good idea, suggesting that once he accepted the challenge from Shang Tsung (circa pre-mk1 storyline), that it took him a couple of times to successfully get into full swing with the human form. That's good, and I think it inherently humanizes the character because it inherently asserts a flaw. Which is part of Raiden's underlying character theme.
The biggest ich in this episode is how much like a lunatic they actually had him behave. In the beginning when he's in the room, I thought it was silly to have him behaving like he didn't have any sense about him, oddly walking around the room and screaming at the camera. I felt like we probably should have seen him doing some kind of kata. Trying to conjure up strength to maybe throw his electricity projectile....or teleport... or even have him jump/flip off the bed, showing us that he might be trying to do his torpedo move. (practical ways to have the campy stuff make logical sense)
It would've been cool to see him actually accomplish a teleport inside the room (very very short distance like from one side of the room/camera, to the other), disrupting the camera's signal, but causing his mortal body great stress. Giving them more sensible reason to have him be on the operating table.... Or maybe he does accomplish throwing a string of electricity? But he burns the crap out of himself? All of this stuff alerts the staff....causing them to want to sedate him again... y'know? just more ideas....
The screaming and everything? That's wrong and, I believe that if Raiden's actor was given more dialogue than say...the doctor... the ways he could be telling other characters his story and purpose would//should make him seem crazy enough. The relationship with Blue was good for this reason also. They could have played Blue up as a really crazy person for that matter. Making it extremely odd for the staff that this guy shows up, and might be the only person who's ever been able to connect with her. (*shows Raiden and Blue holding a normal conversation, and laughing like old chums in the background of a scene where the doctors are talking*)
The idea that they keep sedating him works because he's in the human form behaving oddly and talking about what's important to Mortal Kombat. The idea that he keeps fighting with the staff works too, but only if the motivation for him were reasons associated with him trying to strengthen, and get the hang of this human form.
I felt they dropped the ball a little bit on his defining moment in this episode too. I was expecting Raiden to have some kind of explosive break out at some point. Especially after they shocked him. Also, lobotomy? I expected electro-therapy.
There's a few other little things here or there but I mainly appreciated the risk, but didn't appreciate how disconnected from Raiden's game, movie, or t.v. show character he seems. I think this actor is acceptable but, they've gotta get rid of that demonic stare... (Raiden might be better portrayed during this period as sick, or weak... not hot headed)
Even better, from MK9's Story mode, I'd take moments like when Raiden is talking to Human Cyrax about the Lin Kuei, or when he's talking Scorpion out of killing Sub-Zero and apply that sort of insane wisdom (like "force" moments, if you take a cue from star wars when Raiden talks you into, or out of something. lol) into a film like this, with a weakened Raiden. It may be one of the only "weapons" he can frequently use until he has the ability to use his special moves.
That doctor should've maybe been an irritation to human Raiden at best. Not someone who dominates the pace of the film. To be honest, Raiden probably should have done better to have had more of the doctors attitude. Serious, in control, and passively jovial at different moments.
That's all I want to type for now....

I really enjoyed this episode and how they took a all mighty powerful charter and made him almost human the only this is the episode should of been at least 30 minutes long I liked the connections between Blue and Raiden although it would of been nice if Raiden could of set her free only thing I will say that really got up my Aussie nose is that in the ending china scene his outfit "NEEDS MORE COAT!"
