i love where this series is going with the story!! that Tancharoen guy knows what he's doing and is handling the mk name well imo
i was worried they were just going to try and retell the original story again (for like the third time lol). With MK9 going through the original 3 games (plus changes) and this series taking MK in a new direction, it's a good time to be an mk fan

It's very plausible that the shoot location itself is known locally to be "haunted", but that fact has nothing to do with the actual story, and the place is being used just because it looks dirty and abandoned.

Eh, seems like a bit of a stretch all things considered.

Seems very likely.

If anyone has any complaints after the absurd data dump MKO has coming, I may have to perform a fatality. A complete log of tweets, among other things...

Y'know, I'm not sure it's something to worry about. I've never heard anyone complain that there's "too much news" before.
But knowing this community, there's a first for everything...

I'm really the one doing the complaining, after tracking down Twitter links etc. Pain in the neck for something that doesn't look as impressive as the effort it takes. Hopefully everyone finds what they're looking for, at least.

Jeri Ryan's a menace!!!
I really don't like this concept. Mortal Kombat doesn't get along with...well, reality.
Mortal Kombat without the magic and the mysticism and the fantasy components is just a really bad series about insane serial killers who fight each other to the death.

I don't think there's any reason MK couldn't be presented in a somewhat realistic fashion, particularly if you're telling stories leading up to to the first tournament. Of course, you could do that just fine without ditching the facts of the story and the characters, too. Martial artists, gangsters, soldiers, actors, and even ninja aren't exactly obliterating the suspension of disbelief.
I think it would be a grievous error to confuse Rebirth with realism, though. It's absurd to the Nth degree. The 1995 film arguably negotiated a sense of reality far better, and without abandoning everything recognisable about the franchise.
The nature of the digital series is still ambiguous, too.
Sonya might be fighting for her life in a grimey building, but there's nothing to suggest that isn't just a prelude scuffle between her and Kano, leading in to the story of the game (MK1-MK3). Probably wishful thinking, but still well within the realm of the plausible based on the facts we have available.
