They sunk and failed because Midway had no other fucking profitable title EXCEPT Mortal Kombat. If they didn't do that crossover with DC, who knows where MK/NRS would have ended up after Midway tanked.

They were doing so well with only one profitable title from 1991-2008

Doing so well? You're kidding right? They'd been on a steep decline for YEARS. I'd honestly go do some homework before you argue this any further...

Chill, sorry I don't dedicate most of my time learning about Midway's finance troubles in the past. all I'm getting at is that even at a steep decline they kept themselves afloat, MK vs DC was the final killing blow, but luckly gained favor for Warner brothers and they took Midway under their wing and formed NRS.

Rejoice that I finally understand that DC comics publishing doesn't mean that it will merge both series together, I took your word into consideration be humble please?

lol Trust me, you're lucky I saw your comment. Others wouldn't play so nice, I'm sure. I was just merely saying you should look into it if the discussion interests you. They pretty much started losing major face around early 2000s, then starting have debts and shit and then started tanking completely after Armageddon. Even from before Deadly Alliance, they were feeling the hurt. It's quite sad looking back at it, actually, how MK sorta limped through those years despite having an amazing surge forward with stories and characters. It's too bad the finished products and the gameplay didn't do those characters justice.

Wow, they started suffering that early? They sure kept a straight face all those years and powered through their troubles. See for someone who's just an average mortal kombat admirer like myself wouldn't have realized the hardships, I assumed that the sales of Armegeddon started to slowly hurt their finance and that MK vs DC finished it off, I still think MK vs DC hastened the bankruptcy of the company though.
I actually didn't hate the game at all really, it had good graphics and gameplay it was simply the fact that two different series merged is what managed to rank the game to be my least favorite mortal kombat.

I'm just hoping they never do any other DC/MK stint again, unless its non canon DLC related just for kicks like Scorpion in Injustice.

I wouldn't worry about that, Boon's already stated he doesn't want to kill Batman/Superman/etc. in an MK game

I'm pretty sure now that they have Injustice, you don't have to worry about major crossover events anymore besides someone guesting in Injustice.

Also, looked up some of the figures for you. "After losing money each year since 2000, Midway's losses accelerated in 2003, as it lost $115 million on sales of about $93 million. Midway was ranked as the #4 video game publisher by sales in 2000. It was ranked as the #19 video game publisher by sales in 2005 and had fallen to #20 by 2006. By 2007, Midway had lost $100 million on sales of $157 million."

@Minchken

there have been many games where 2 different realms came together for a fighting game lol u like that was the first time that ever happened

Super smash brothers

Namco vs Capcom

Marvel vs Capcom (similiar toDC vs Mk, since Capcom is street fighter)

Ryu didnt suddenly make cameos in spiderman movies LOL it was just a gimic for a game, similiar to musicians working on a collaboration.

I really feel like you dont really think about things u read and then just make posts bashing it. especially regarding the comic, not knowing that publish doesnt mean creates and designs. This comic is amazing so far and great for any mortal kombat fan.

Technically super smash brothers is not a crossover since all games made by Nintendo are related, same universe, even. That was only one instance of me bashing it, I don't go around doing that with everything else, When I see a DC comics label I assumed they were merging series. I'm perfectly ok with DC publishing the comics, I should have looked more into it, but at least you guys put my concern to rest, I'm sure I will like it since it's mortal kombat and I love that shit.

Yeah man, it's completely seperate from anything DC related besides them publishing it and is just MK in all it's glory. They're definitely taking a different, wider approach to the story and it has benefited them greatly imo. Pick up those comics asap

Well aside from the obvious characters, of course.
