Hi again, if you have not imagined what this thread is about, then you must have a big, BIG malfunction. j/k
well, i just can ́t decide which actor did the best version of Rayden.
Chistopher Lambert (MK1), James Remar (MKA) or Jeffrey Meek(MK:C).
Chistopher Lambert gave the character a serious personality, with sparks of sarcastic humour, only seen in some scenes, because in the majority, his version of Rayden is the classical tuff "good guys guide".
James Remar (wich i didn't like that much) portrayed the Thunder God with even more serioucity than Lambert did. His Rayden is serious, hard looking (in this i'm not counting his "mortal version", who looks an arabian rayden with sort hair), and completely out of good jokes (since he haven't used any).
Jeffrey Meek was awesome as Rayden. This Rayden, took Johnny Cage's "comical relief character" place, of the MK1 movie, and increased it with the sarcasm of Chris Lambert, wich resulted in probably the best Rayden of the three.
I can't decide... Oh! I've decided!!
The best Rayden is.............
MICHAEL GARVEY.
(the guy who played Rayden in Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero.)
...lol...

meek is a good shao khan,so as rayden i choose lambert

Jeffrey Meek no doubt. The fact that he can play two parts, shows talent, he is better than James Remar (who imo makes a better Fujin) and to par with Christopher Lambert.
Jeffrey Meek for Shao Kahn and Raiden.
Jeffrey Meek for Shao Kahn and Raiden.

lambert, for a good reason, he made raiden be a funny guy, and to me that's what i always thought raiden would be like with liu, sonya, cage, sub-zero and the rest in the game. i mean even though raiden wasn't seen a lot in the first movie, when he was on it was just cool to see him.
but with the guy who played as him in hte second movie was just awful. am i the only person realzied that every other scene raiden was shown his hair was either in a ponytail or it was down? you can obviously know what happened there.
as for the guy who played raiden in conquest he was cool. i have nothing else to say other that he was cool. its just that i've never heard of this guy before and i can't really say too much about him. a lot of people on that show i don't know too much becuase i've never heard of them.
where the hell do they find these actors?

MK C actors?
well, Jeffrey Mekk (Rayden/Shao Kahn) wasn't and isn't such a popular guy, i mean, he is a great actor, i've seen some stuff he made before MK and he is very good.
Paolo montalben (kung lao) i've never heard of him, but now i think he has a carrer as a singer.
Kristanna Loken (taja) well at the time of MK C she was a young actress of whom i never heard about also, but now she has a cinema carrer ( blood rayne, terminator 3...)
daniel bernhardt ( siro) well, i know this guy for playing the main character in the Bloodsport movie series (except Bloodsport 1, that was Van Damme's debut).

If I had to choose, I'd go with the guy from Conquest. Remar had very little to work with and I never cared for Lambert's jokester Raiden.

Hmm. Very interesting.
Good for the games, but imo, not for the big screen. Idk, it just seems to me Carlos would be too joking about the role. I mean, he's good, but not that good. Although, it's just my opinion, lol.
Here's how I rate the Raiden role:
1. Jeffrey Meek
2. Christopher Lambert
3. Michael Garvey
4. Carlos Pesina
5. James Remar (Should be a Fujin instead)

My favorite version of Rayden (spelled this way in movies and TV shows due to copywrite issues) is the Jeff Meeks version with Lambert a close second.
Meeks not only had the humor when needed but also the seriousness when required. Not to mention, I always felt he looked the part more plus he sounds more like I expected Rayden voice to be. For some reason, I could never get passed Lambert's voice when he played Rayden in the movie. Too raspy. Of the TV/Movie actors Meeks had the best voice to play the thunder god and if Lambert doesn't get/want the next Rayden movie part (if they ever get around to making it) I hope they offer it to Meeks. He's a great actor, just the fact that he was able to pull off both Kahn and Rayden in the same show and if you didn't read the credits you most likely wouldn't have noticed. I know I didn't.
Plus, he knows a 'little' of martial arts (black belt in TKD and Aikido) so you have an actor that not only can act but actually fight on screen. More than some of the other actors that were in the previos two movies who could only do one or the other.
Which Rayden would you like to talk with:
Lambert
or
Meeks

Meeks does not have a great Raiden voice. Not deep/booming enough.

True but compared to the other choice, he's the better of the two.

he actually needed stuntmen for fighting sequnces,he said so.
so even if he a tae-kwon-do balck belt he uses stunt men and this sucks!
(btw he have only a fighting scene in conquest and he act only during close-up angles).

And Lambert doesn't use stuntmen? If you want someone to portray Rayden in a fight without stuntmen call Jackie Chan and have him wear a white wig. Very few actors do their own stunts whether or not they have martial arts training. At least Meeks can start the fight scene and look like he knows what he is doing and can do some of the basic fighting without a stuntman so we can get some good up close but not true close up fighting scenes.
As for all the close up in the one fighting scene in Conquest, Meeks was playing both Shao Kahn and Rayden. With the lousy budget they had they had no choice to have anything but close ups. Another point in Meeks favor, he can actually act and seem like two different people. Lambert, no matter what movie he's in he is just...Lambert aka 'the Highlander'

I actually kinda like James Remar as Raiden. I don't know, he was, as someone mentioned above, more of a fighter than advisor and "caring" god (that role was played quite well by Lambert). I'm not that sure Lambert's Raiden would be fit in all those quick and sudden fights in MKA. As for Meek, unfortunately I haven't watched MK Conquest.

Duuude, i've GOT to watch Conquest!
It's a million times better than any of the MK movies.
seriously, MK Conquest is the best media incarnation of the MK franchise.

Jeff Meek hands down was the best version of Rayden. He showed a side of wisdom that a god should have. He would somewhat give an answer but in a way that he lead you to the answer but made Kung Lao or Siro or Tasia think about the answer is and what to do. He also had a lighter funnier side as well, with a touch of sarcasim (at apropiate times). Jeff Meek also did a hell of a lot better playing Shao Kahn than Brian Thompson in Annihaltion.

Heavily agreed.
Jeff's Raiden had more wisdom and sarcastic humor than Lambert's Raiden.
And he always talk in riddles, making the main heroes to think, and not following his instructions blindly.
NOTE to killerspaz :
the name of the female hero in Conquest is Taja, not Tasia.
Tasia is a former member of the Black Dragon clan, that only appeared in MK: SF.

I would have loved to say that Jeff was the best Raiden, but unfortunately I was disappointed as his Raiden never helped the heroes much, or just didn't seem to care enough for them. I don't recall seeing him fight properly, and the last episode with him in it, was extremely dissapointing when it should have been his redemption point. Of course there should have been a second season but that never happened, sadly
.
Pity since Jeff had the overall look and style for Raiden, but it just wasn't the right mix for Raiden IMO. Perhaps if he had been a little more like the MKDA / MKDeception(intro only) Raiden that involved himself with human more, then he would have been a solid Raiden.
Therefore my choice would be Lambert.

Lambert is more of an established actor and is flexible in his emotions, he can be funny and go to that intimidating look no problem in just a second. Lambert seems dominant as remar seems a little laid back, but get me started on remars raiden haircut LOL. But remar id good on The Warriors
I like Lambert's portrayal as Raiden, I mean if you were someone that existed thousands of years would you still have an attitude where you would actually give a damn about anything anymore? Especially when the fate of something cannot be dealt with by yourself but instead of people whose life span will be a short blink of an eye. Raiden saw everything in a big picture rather than just the moment. that is why he was able to see into Kang, Cage, and Sonya so easily and he knew that Kang would win in the end. He's a god, he does not have to worry about anything, and Lambert showed that very well.

Raiden as whole cared about Earthrealm and it's inhabitants whether or not he could do anything to protect it directly or indirectly. The way Jeff Meek potrayed Raiden is that he understood it was Mortal Kombat (emphasise on mortal) and the improtance of life and the realm. Therfore he did what he had to do to ensure that his 'champions' understood the value and importance of life.
That is why I think Meek's potrayl of Raiden may not hace physically interfered in the events of people but rather made them think and realize the significance of the events and handle things on their own (with a little nudge from him).
