Oh yes, i forgot. Some bios were waaaaay to long.

Yeah, some bios were pretty long, and at least one of them had similarities with mine. Still, I can't wait until we start voting, several of these characters are interesting.
Nonsense! I enjoyed the long bios. Who cares if it's not the same as the ones in game... I thrive on small background details.... And the more I read, the shorter ones usually didn't have enough meat on their bones... Though some were still perfectly cooked. I'm too excited about this little tournament, I must stop replying now.

I agree, if the bio is quality, the length doesn't matter. There were some great short bios and some great long bios in that set.
I also would like to say that I'm very impressed with the innovative ideas of some of these characters, very grisly and scary, perfect for MK.
I cannot wait to see more and start judging this contest is great.

I had the idea for a modern day pirate for my secondary choice. His name was 'Pegleg' because one of his legs was blown off in an unsuccessful raid on a cruise ship. He reforms his ways and becomes a gold medalist for sprinting at the paralympics. My inspiration came from this kinda prosthesis made specifically for runners:
It's kind of like a hook for the foot and I feel it has incredible potential for different moves and combos. I also envision him carrying around a golf bag full of other prosthetics that can be used as different kind of weapons. For example, there's one with a metal foot for strong attacks and a metal and sharp peg for stabbing attacks. I wanted to go for something grindhouse like (think Cherry from Planet Terror) but not as extreme.

Thanks, I feel like I maybe should of just went with her. I actually came up with some decent powers for her, solar energy, venus flytraps, petal storms, ivy whips etc., much appreciated, but compared to your idea, it's cliche. I would love see a character like the one you're talking about, it's so outside the box and different from anything I've ever heard. Truly brilliant idea.
Although I'm not familiar with Cherry from Planet terror( I need to check into that), that would be the most epic character ever. If that's your second choice, I can only imagine how inventive your first choice was, this tournament has so many innovative and fresh ideas.

Hmmm I'm a little worried about Malice's bio now as its fairly short at not overly cramped with info but it does give you what you need to know.
When I was writing her bio I just went down the official mk9 character root
seeing as its this game the character was created for.
Well its too late to start worrying about it now.

Plausibility is what I look for.
But I should make this clear to everyone about my character Shoulen and the time period.
Kahn had been in power for a short amount of time. So there is no recent tournament. But I have left it open for a future.
So please don't expect any modern warriors. I have also come to the conclusion that Baraka has a long life span too. They do not age like a human does. So I have classed him and his race as slow aging beings.
I have not explained this in my bio/ending but hopefully you will have read this WITH this in mind.
Thank you.

Why all endings are "I kill Shao Kahn and then..."? Why no love for the MKDA-MKD style endings? Besides of that, good job guys and good luck

Mine has tits! Totally counts.
Anyway, i think all endings start w X kills Shao Kahn cause thats how the endings worked in MK9... and since the created character has to theoretically be one in MK9... well it just makes sense...

Komodo reminded me of the movie "Splice" too much.
I found it took me away from the MK universe. With only a few names thrown in that are from the MK universe, I felt it wasn't MK related... Sorry!!! But it was a very good read! It just didn't fit, for me at least.

I find a lot of the characters to feel slightly out of place in the MK universe, but that is the nature of this competition. Most of them feel like guests, visiting MK to achieve their goals, then vanishing the next game. I did notice that of the few we've seen so far, very few of them seem like they'd have a future in the series plot wise.... Unless the disconnect is glaringly obvious(which, in some cases, it is) then I don't really put much weight in it as far as whether the character is good or not... But a character who manages to fit in with the story, have a plausible purpose, AND have a realistic effect on the story's future... That is a character I will greatly appreciate.

my sentiments exactly! i made my character to fit the mk world, but i fear that some voters will vote for those characters because they ARE different, and not generic MK characters
@x- cutter no we vote on Tues.

So far I like Adsler,Alexandra and Komodo. I only read up to Neuros so far but I am fixing to go to bed after farming double XP on Black Ops all night lol.
I agree that some are way too long...I do not mind reading a few respectful paragraphs but not a whole short story lol. Though as some stated I guess some like to read it all. I am betting that those are the ones that will dislike my character because it lacks her life history. I was more focused on how my specials would work together to form combos and I am a bit worried about my images...they kinda suck because I did them real fast. I have a better one now but I don't think I can add it to the others.
Hey Crow, are we allowed to give you more images?

I was using Eternus as my base model to work off of here. Problem is checking back, the creator of Eternus sent me no entrance poses of any sort, so he has none at all. Alexandra still has her image up and it seems fine. I will omit the costume descriptions. Let me know of any other problems! Keep in mind, this is not the voting topic. You're free to post your thoughts here of course. As an official judge, the way (this is only me personally) I will critique characters is that I will only post my thoughts once your character has been eliminated.
hmm, interesting. hopefully nobody takes any offence at my comments, they're just my opinion:
i think these entries have really highlighted to me how difficult it is to design a character who is both unique and different, but at the same time suitable for the mortal kombat universe.
some of these are just not suited to mk, whilst others (orange scorpion - there was always gonna be at least one wasnt there?) are just too similar to other characters (komodo is also a bit too similar to reptile).
there's also quite a bit of move-borrowing (i immediately thouht of smoke when i saw the name "shade" and, although he's admittedly pretty different in most respects, he does have a carbon copy of smoke's vanishing move). would we accept it if a character in this game had that exact move as well as smoke? no, we wouldnt. so we have to pretty harsh on this i feel. some moves are fairly generic, projectiles, rush moves, etc, but that move is extremely personal to smoke, so taking it in this competition was a mistake i feel.
i dont think that "x looks kinda like y" is a particularly good description either. just highlights to us that the character is strongly based on somebody else. same goes for special moves: describing it as similar to another in the game just says point blanc that it is copied. another big mistake.
i've also realized while looking through these just how important an image is. it's difficult to really like a character if there's no visual representation of that character. the ones without pictures are going to really struggle, imo.
again, dont take these comments the wrong way, just my personal humble opinion. i just dont think any of these entries are going to be a real threat in this competition.
if i were to vote for the best? tricky, most of these are very evenly matched.
whilst i was reading psionic's bio, i thought it was really promising (apart from the "ninja" part). unfortunately, it has no description of special moves whatsoever, making it absolutely clear that they are ALL borrowed, which is a shame.
kimya, again was extremely promising, but it just didnt go far enough. summoning animals and whatever, that's a really good, interesting and UNIQUE trait. he should have gone further with it, used a variety of animals or whatever in specials and fatalities. but instead, his move list is full of generic kicks and teleports. another missed opportunity, but a good entry nonetheless.
onyx is pretty cool all round (mainly because he uses a very similar ability to my own character ¬_¬). a few too many generic moves, but a solid story, a good ending and an interesting fighting style make this a good entry.
overall, my vote would have to go onyx. but yeah, far too many generic and borrowed moves/bios here, am a little disappointed tbh. hopefully the standard rises as the competition goes on.

Thanks Crow! No because when I was reviewing alexandra on here, I noticed the costume descriptions weren't hers. Thanks for removing Eternus's costume descriptions Crow.:) Oh and to everyone who hasn't seen her alternate, there was something wrong with the image..but I will be resending ti to Crow very shortly. You might just like her alternate better than the first one. Anyways, keep on the lookout for it. I'll send it very soon. :)

mine is also short, and i wouldnt worry. some of these bios are horrendously long and a chore to read. the brief, mk style bios will be much more effective imo.

Oh crap! I overlooked Adsler for some reason. She is awesome! Far and away the best of the group. The only character that actually looks remotely interesting. Super creepy too, she would fit more into MK than most MK characters.
Yes, my vote goes to Adsler.

i agree with you completely with the exception of "x looks kinda like y"
if you really want to get a sense of certain "brand new" character the best way is to make references to old veteran characters.
and also moves are borrowed A LOT. example, sub zero/ reptiles slide.
