Anyway, a tossup between Irrelevant and Irrelevanter...Even though he had a small role in MKX, Rain somewhat shed his co-ownership with Fujin as the series' Dudley Do-Nothing.
Still, I went with Smoke simply because the fanboyism for Rain is insufferable.
Rain not being on the main roster of MKX was a pretty huge misstep. He's a cool character that's been shafted one too many times.
Rain's only good appearance was MK9.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Sheeva versus Khameleon
#59 Supreme Ranking #62
0 wins 4 losses Record 01 wins 4 losses
Round 1 (2013) Best Result Round 1 (2012)
In MK3, Sheeva showed that four-armed Shokan have a feminine side! Debuting as playable counterpart to Goro and Kintaro, she let players manhandle and telestomp their way to victory for the first time. When the timeline was rebooted, she reprised her role as Queen Sindel's bodyguard, chosen for her royal Draco lineage, and role in thwarting Edenian resistance. She aided in the failed invasion of Earthrealm, rising to claim the Shokan throne in the MKX tie-in comics.
In MK Trilogy, Khameleon showed N64 players that the reptilian Zaterrans have a feminine side as well! Though similar to Chameleon; the female form is more explicitly known to be a survivor of Reptile's lost race. Returning in Armageddon, she pursued a failed alliance with Reptile, who once again fell under The Emperor's influence. Thus she sought the power to defeat Shao Kahn for his role in destroying her realm. Khameleon made a cameo in MKX Mobile, but has remained an elusive representative for her people.
Each kombatant carries a legacy as the matriarch of their respective iconic races. They've had a unique role to play in the history of Mortal Kombat, but there can only be one! Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Khameleon has some good story hooks but not much else going for her. Hope when she returns, she goes full lizard mode.
Khameleon...anyway, moving on.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Jax versus Motaro
#27 Supreme Ranking #46
4 wins 5 losses Record 1 win 3 losses
Round 3 (2016) Best Result Round 2 (2013)
Jax missed the boat to the Shaolin Tournament, but was front and centre on debut in Mortal Kombat II! Traversing Outworld to rescue his Special Forces partner Sonya, he geared up in iconic cybernetic arm enhancements to team with Sonya in the invasion of MK3! The powerhouse kombatant remained a stalwart of the series, grappling his way through MK4, Deadly Alliance & Armageddon as the military muscle of the OIA. He even starred in his own spin-off, the third-person prequel Special Forces that pitted him against the Black Dragon! The reboot timeline cost Jax his arms and his life. Forced to serve Quan Chi as a revenant, Jax was returned to the living in MKX, and reluctantly resumed the fight against darkness as a powerful soldier -- and a father!
The centaur Motaro introduced a new breed of sub-boss in MK3. Replacing Shokans as Shao Kahn's trusted warriors, his horse-like body filled much of the screen as he gallopped through any who opposed him! That same unique physiology kept him out of much of the action of later games. As an eleventh hour addition to Armageddon, he was reduced to a two-legged minotaur. When the timeline was rebooted, Motaro's centaur body was restored for Story Mode appearances - but he remained out of the game. His corpse was deposited on Shao Kahn's throne room floor after an encounter with Raiden, but his legend lives on.
Physically powerful and remembered for their unique extra limbs - Jax and Motaro are icons of the MK sequel trilogy! They represent two sides of the klassic invasion. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Blaze versus Shao Kahn
#60 Supreme Ranking #15
1 win 4 losses Record 7 wins 4 losses
Round 2 (2014) Best Result Round 3 (2012)
Blaze burned bright as a mysterious figure crossing The Pit in Mortal Kombat II. The legend of the living "Torch" endured, finally coming to fruition in Deadly Alliance when it was learned he was abducted by holy men to guard the last Great Dragon egg. Blaze returned to the obscurity of his quest after being unlocked in MKDA, only to return as the final boss of Armageddon! An elemental created by Edenian seer Delia, his purpose was to lure the realm's most powerful warriors to a final battle where demigods would fight to determine the outcome! Defeating Blaze atop the pyramid at the end of the world is to claim ultimate power!
Shao Kahn was a figure of mystery during the Shaolin Tournament, but loomed large over MKII as the final boss standig atop the kombat ladder! The looming, scantily armored Emperor of Outworld was as brazen as he was powerful! Responsible for merging untold realms into his dark domain, he dominated the arcades as MK's most famous final boss! When Outworld invaded in MK3, he returned for another reign of terror. His plans thwarted, he was overthrown in the opening scenes of Deadly Alliance! Though thought dead, his use of decoys allowed a limited playable return in Deception before a full comeback in Armageddon! His victory atop the Edenian tower forced Raiden to take drastic measures, sending a thought through time that led his younger self to rewrite history! Thus, The Emperor began his corruption of the tournament and invasion anew. Fated to be ripped from Earthrealm by the Elder Gods themselves!
The realms have trembled when their mighty forms have shrugged! They have set the course for Mortal Kombat as the final bosses of multiple games! Their legacy is still anticipated today, but who is the greater power? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Unfortunately Blaze is like used toilet paper: utterly disposable.
