Well, I did a search and didn't find any results for a thread about it on this forum, so I decided to make one. This thread will be about everything pertaining to the upcoming live movie.

Apparently, it will be set during the original Dragon Ball series. It will be directed by James Wong (Final Destination), starring Justin Chatwin (from the movie The Invisible) as a young Goku and James Marsters (from TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Smallville) as Piccolo. Filming will begin later this month, and the movie itself is set to be released August 15, 2008.

So far, these have been the only actors cast/rumored to be cast for roles in the movie.

The plot has been rumored to be about a teenage Goku attending High School (Yes, you read correctly: GOKU GOING TO SCHOOL). It would seem as though they're going for a Clark Kent Smallville-esque Goku, which, in my opinion, is unoriginal and a big mistake. The characters of Goku and Superman already had enough in common as it is, but the transfer of a character who is supposedly naive and never attended school to a typical teenage high school student is just destroying what little originality the character had left.

But I suppose they're doing it to make the character of Goku more American and believable. Anyway, I grew up watching the anime and always hoped they would make it into a well-made live movie, but I just have this bad feeling they're going to make it really cheesy and targeted towards a film for children.
