After we see Rain's ending and learn that he is Daegon, and Taven's half brother, and through Konquest we learn from Rain himself that he is a Prince, does anyone believe that Rain is Kitana's half-brother? Let me explain why.
Through Rain's ending it is revealed that he is Daegon and Taven's half brother. Argus is his father. Now who is his mother? Hmm? In Konquest when you come across Rain, Rain himself says that he is a Prince. If Argus is from Edenia, and Sindel is from Edenia and is a Queen then perhaps Rain is Kitana's half-brother? Let me know what you guys think.

Unless Argus has been sleeping around during his marriage to Delia i dont see how it is possible.
If Rain was born before Taven and Daegon then he should be a lot older as he wasnt hibernating or whatever.
It would be cool though if it were to be somehow explained.

Well this has been discussed before. nothing to prove it or deny it is evident I believe. You never know what the MK team would do next, storyline wise.

So Sindel cheated on Jerrod with Argus?
Not every single prince and princess in the world is related by blood. Just because Rain claims he's a prince....key word there is "claim"; he might only be a "prince" in his own mind....doesn't mean he's directly related to Kitana.

What comes into mind here is that originally Rain was the son to a general of Shao Kahn's armies, now he is the son of a god? another retcon IMO

Agus hid Rain and the adopted Father is the general.
both stories are right.
Yes Rain is a real prince as much as The Artist known as Prince is a real Prince.
Btw, Either of Taven's parents are royality. Friends of Royality but They are NOT Royality.
I know this is just speculation, just like the Kahn/Reiko speculation. I was just wandering if anyone else thought this as well. We still do not have a closing on anyones story yet. Maybe we'll know by next MK?

Rain... purple.. prince... HMMMM
its just a joke.
its just a joke.
hey all,
I always thought Reiko was related to Kitana as a half brother, the Son of Khan and Sindel before her suiside. He has the attributes and physical apperances of both, even Sindel's black stripe in his hair. It would make scense that Khan appoint his son and next heir to the throne as general of his armies.
Is also very well know that the MK team love taking and twisting existing Mythology into MK Mythology. Maybe Argus is playing Zues? Zues chated on Hera ALOT, but they were happy anyways, sorta. Sindel cheating on Jerrod, or even Khan, having the baby, sending him away, and then killing herself over the grief would be a great storyline and be a great way to link Rain, Reiko, and Kitana to be all related. Even better, if Reiko and Rain were twins, and Sindel only told Khan of one of them and sent the other away... this may be too deep a storyline for MK though, lol.

hmmm could be a possibiliy, but they mention about kitanas father dieing when shao kahn comes to edenia.

Holy Shit i really like that idea about Reiko.
That would be sweet and hopefully it happens. Nice thinking!

Yeah, we can find out Reiko is Kahn & Sindel's son....Rain is Argus & Sindel's son....Kitana is Jerrod & Sindel's daughter......THEN find out Jerrod cheated on Sindel with a servant and had Jade, making her their half sister....and on top of everything else, learn that Kitana was actually the clone the whole time, not Mileena.
And we will offically have turned this storyline into a full-on soap opera.
And we will offically have turned this storyline into a full-on soap opera.
The time line would be as such
Jerrod and Sindel lived happily in Edinia, They had a daughter and named her Kitana. Outworld invaded and Jerrod was slain by Khan who "married" Sindel to unite the two realms. Khan wanted an heir to his throne and so wanted Sindel to have another child. At the same time Sindel is heart broken over the death of her husband and now "slavery" to Khan is seduced by Argus. Sindel is pregnate and doesn't know who the father is. Before the child is born she leaves to give birth with only Kitana. She has twin boys to her surprise. She knows if she returns to Khan with out a child he would kill Kitana and the little control she has over her kingdome will be lost when he kills her aswell so she decides to leave the true first born child with a family of Edinians to raise and bring back the second child to Khan. The child growing up with the Edinians is called Rain, while the child raised by Khan is called Reiko.

The Rain part is messed up, but the Reiko part is awesome IMO.

It's not a question of whether or not it makes sense....it's just I personally think it's incredibly goofy and coincidental to reveal every Edenia character we've been introduced to is related. Hell, let's also reveal Tanya's mother is Delia, making her Taven & Daegon's half-sister.
I don't like Reiko being related to Kahn in any way.
And personally, I think it's better that Rain finds out Argus is his father and just takes it upon himself to proclaim he's a Prince of Edenia.

I know, right! I got a new feel about her from her Deception voice, like a kind maternal type. It would be sad if she were a ho though. Her ending makes her seem EXTREMELY faithful. I don't know any other woman that would wait 10,000 years for her husband. That ending made me melt, it was touching.

I think that they tried to make a new character and decided that they'd just replace the Rain guy because he was a joke character, anyway.
Okay, so ignoring that Rain was only in UMK3 because they left him in MK3's opening, his story was kind of cool. It was a story that, despite all of the trillion characters and character stories MK already had, hadn't actually been done before. Someone SCARED into serving Shao Kahn. Kitana thought that she was his daughter because she was so young, Mileena was a clone, Reptile had nowhere else to go and believed that Kahn would set his people free, Shang Tsung had his own motives, Baraka just wanted some violence. In Rain, there was a character who made the conscious decision to do something he didn't want to do because he was scared to die. You could probably call him a coward, I'd say that's valid only 'cause after being alive for, like, 5,000 years life might get boring so death wouldn't be that bad.
Of course, because of what I can only assume was a desperate scramble for a story, there are major plotholes in the UMK3/MKT story. Like, smuggled away because of the war, but to where? And wasn't Edenia, after that war where Shao Kahn took over, merged with Outworld? Weren't most of the Edenians killed? Was he raised in a cave for thousands of years?
One of the hardest concepts in Mortal Kombat - especially the Outworldians and Edenians - is how they seemingly accomplish so little in thousands of years of being alive. They act as young as they look, yet their brain function is as quick as a human's. . . so shouldn't they acquire the knowledge of 10,000 years?
Anyway, that's a tangent.
But I can live with Rain's UMK3/MKT story. We didn't need to know who his parents were, only that they were dead and that Rain didn't really have the opportunity for mental growth while he was hiding in a cave or something.
I assumed he became a good guy, didn't care if he died or not.
Then MKA came along.
Different story completely.
I mean, it's a cool story, but it's not Rain's story. I understand if they want to disregard his old story completely, since Rain's true purpose in UMK3/MKT was to be an homage to Prince, but they forgot that they can't do it without explaining some stuff. Besides, I'm not sure if his new bio/story is serious or also just to make him a prince.
I think I can only list the things I don't understand about it.
1) How can Argus be his father? Not only about him being married to Dehlia, but more importantly, he was hiding out, pretending to be dead ever since Daegon tried to kill him. Unless we completely disregard Rain's old story, Rain was a baby when Shao Kahn attacked Edenia.
2) If Argus somehow was Rain's father, and he gave Rain to the general to take care of; well, the general died. Who smuggled him out where; who took care of him? In other words, where'd he go?
3) How does Rain know that he's Argus's son? Argus was supposedly pretending to be dead the whole time, so who told him? He barely seemed to know that he was Edenian in UMK3/MKT.
4) If Rain joined Shao Kahn out of fear/cowardice, fought for thousands of years motivated by it, and quickly changed sides when finding out what Shao Kahn did to his family, even going on a suicide mission to kill Shao Kahn (or the idea of him possibly doing that being introduced), does he really seem like someone who wants power?
5) What was he doing, then, during UMK3/MKT/MK4? Especially in MK4+, when Shao Kahn was missing from the equation? If he was evil the whole time and never turned good, wouldn't he then almost be guaranteed to have died during UMK3/MKT? (Not that death matters for MKA).
And. . .Why did they give him this whole re-vamped, kind-of-cool but totally-contradictory story, along with his totally cool new look, when he's probably never going to appear in another MK game ever again? (Just so they could have Taven call him "prince" in Konquest mode? And make him more Prince-like in appearance (which is totally fine)?)
If they had found a way or at least BOTHERED to retcon his old story, I'd be all for this new gig. But with MKA's storyline, and the lack of continuity with his story, well, I don't know anymore. I just don't know.

Rain is most likely NOT Kitana's half-brother. A prince is the male heir of any noble title. Not only that of King. Rain could be the son of some other Edenian noble famile (ie Duke, Earl, etc).
As for being the son of Argus and thus Argus cheating on his wife, there is a good chance that Rain might have been conceived after Argus's wife was killed. Since I've stopped playing Konquest for the moment I'm not sure if the storyline told us if Argus and his wife died at the same time or not.
Anyways...just think as MK: A as the new MK: Trilogy. Just an excuse to bring back all MK Characters and has nothing to do with the real storyline (even if there ever was one)

It was probably another one of the MK Teams *funny* jokes, going along with that Prince: Purple Rain thing. I think Rain isnt really Tavens brother, it was just a lame *joke*.
