Omni Man Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer Debuts at NYCC
Tremor joins Invincible villain!

New York Comic-Con is underway and where better to reveal the first look at one of three comic book guest characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1? Viltrumite superman Omni-Man has dominated entire worlds and now he's taking on the gods & titans of MK1! Watch:

Omni-Man has gained mainstream recognition as a villain in the Amazon Prime animated series Invincible, but it was twenty years ago that he first debuted as Mark Grayson's super-hero father in the pages of the Image Comics series of the same name. The trailer arrives to celebrate the anniversary of Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker's original creation.

If multimedia crossovers aren't your thing -- watch closely and you'll also be treated to a preview of MK's first downloadable Kameo Fighter -- the elusive Black Dragon mercenary: Tremor!

Possessing super-human strength, speed, invulnerability, and flight -- Omni-Man is one of a generation of comic book bad guys inspired by DC's ultimate hero: Superman. He'll be joined by another, The Boys' Homelander, as well as morally grey DC aquisition Peacemaker.

His heroic facade was dropped in an early big twist when he murdered the Guardians of the Globe -- revealing his true nature as a violent and callous conqueror from the planet Viltrum! Can Fire God Liu Kang and the other kombatants possibly stop him? That's up to you if you purchase the downloadable character included with the MK1 Kombat Pack!

The Kombat Pack includes five new Kameo support characters, bringing Tremor back from obscurity after his first main series inclusion in Mortal Kombat X. The kameo design reprises a rocky skin texture beneath the klassic quilted "palette swap ninja" design, despite Tremor never actually appearing in that. A yellow-ish hue does recall his first appearance as a sub-boss in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces though.

Warner Bros Rejected a Mortal Kombat vs DC Animated Crossover
Writer reveals failed pitch.

Mortal Kombat Legends have quietly become a regular staple for Warner Brothers animated features, alongside an established tradition of DC Comics inspired cartoon stories, but a crossover between the two was not to be - according to a new interview excerpt. Read on for details:

Johnny Cage takes centre stage in mere days when Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match takes the series into an imagined adventure set in neon-soaked nineteen-eighties Los Angeles, but things could've gone even further afield if a pitched crossover between the Mortal Kombat and DC animated universes was realised.

Jeremy Adams -- writer of the MK Legends series, seventies kung fu-inspired Batman: Soul of the Dragon, and Justice League: Warworld -- has told ComicBook.com that Warner Brothers rejected a pitch for a Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe animated crossover movie: "... I don't know if they're ever going to do any more. I hope they do, and I hope they call me to be involved. That would be great because I really love it."

I would lower your expectations. I don't know if they have any plans to do more. I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed.

The 2008 Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe video game crossover was the final title published by Midway Games before Warner Brothers acquired the Chicago based developer who became NetherRealm Studios.

Following years behind a partnership between Capcom and Marvel Comics established over multiple games; the eighth installment in the Mortal Kombat series proved highly divisive, falling short on plans to expand the game with Quan Chi and Harley Quinn DLC, and considered a low point for many die-hard fans.

Interest in a prospective follow-up crossover has been tepid ever since. In 2012, NetherRealm Creative Head Ed Boon noted the creation of Injustice: Gods Among Us made a crossover less likely, elaborating "we loved how our last Mortal Kombat game was strictly Mortal Kombat". A crossover sequel was shot down again in 2016.

Injustice received a loose animated adaptation in 2021, but that hasn't stopped the worlds of Mortal Kombat and the DC Universe meeting multiple times over the years.

Peacemaker will be the latest DC Comics hero to meet the MK fighters, entering Mortal Kombat 1 as downloadable content in The Kombat Pack. He follows behind Mortal Kombat 11's Joker, and Mortal Kombat guests in Injustice: Raiden, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion.

A full-on battle with Mortal Kombat has been off-limits even to comic books, but Injustice has found itself at war with Eternia in Injustice vs Masters of the Universe, and more recently in a revival of the lapsed universe in Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent -- a multiverse spanning adventure with Superman's son.

Mortal Kombat 1 Developer Patches Player 1 Advantage
Hotfix patch expected today.

Not all Mortal Kombat 11 kombatants will be created equal, but when the same character cannot execute the same moves -- you know something's wrong. A widely reported "Player 1 advantage" has been acknowledged by the developer and awaits an upcoming fix soon. Read on for details:

Dexerto reported the imbalance between players, which has been widely reported by fans who've observed difficulties in executing combo attacks from the second player's position. YouTube user mrAPchem posted his findings [embedded below], speculating that falling "hurtboxes" -- unseen geometric zones that determine impact of hits -- are different between the two players, specifically rendering Player 2's hurtbox during falling larger.

A lot of bugs have been discovered since the release of the game, but this significant imbalance between players warranted a response from NetherRealm Studios Chief Creative Officer Ed Boon, who posted to X [aka; Twitter], "Once again, THANK YOU for all your feedback with MK1. You are helping us make the game better every day. The Player1 advantage bug has been fixed, and an update is being prepped for release very soon!"

According to a subsequent post to the social media micro-blogger, the developer has successfully isolated and solved the problem, working a hotfix into a patch to be released today.

You can follow and report bugs found in the game with WB Games Mortal Kombat 1 Support. You can also let the community know your findings by posting in the comments in the Mortal Kombat 1 forum! MK1 is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Shang Tsung, Reiko & Nitara Mortal Kombat 1 Bios
Influence, Fealty & Deliverance.

It has begun! Mortal Kombat 1 is out now in early access for players with the Kollector's & Premium Editions, but we couldn't let the sun set without acknowledging the final character bios from the starting roster. Along with official render art, they paint the picture of the fighters in MK1's New Era. Take a look:

Reiko is a prisoner of war turned loyal soldier in General Shao's army, but all three characters are mostly pretty familiar to long time fans. Nitara is once again fighting to protect the vampire realm of Vaeternus, while Shang Tsung schemes as a once lowly snake oil salesman whose destiny is altered by a "mysterious" stranger who has set him back on the path of treachery.

Nitara (Heroine of Vaeternus)
Nitara's race of vampires hails from the dark and desolate realm of Vaeternus. To survive, the evolved the ability to feed on the blood of other creatures.

The Aveternians thrived, building a great society. But as their comfort grew, so did their shortsightedness. They overfed on Vaeternus' creatures, disrupting the natural order. They now starve as it collapses.

It is Nitara's solemn obligation to deliver her people from hunger and save her race. Vaeternus must survive.

Shang Tsung (Scheming Sorcerer)
Shang Tsung grew up in Outworld's backwaters. Too lazy for hard labor and too shifty for honest work, he eked out a living selling quack cures and fake magic. Though his wares were useless, Shang Tsung's easy charm always closed the deal.

Shang Tsung was resigned to his hardscrabble life. But then one day a mysterious stranger came, promising to make Shang Tsung a powerful sorcerer. Though suspicious of the offer, it was one he couldn't refuse.

Reiko (General Shao's Loyal Lieutenant)
Reiko was a boy when he and his family were captured during the Kafallah War. Though his family died, Reiko fought and survived.

After spending months as a prisoner, Reiko was freed during a raid by General Shao. Despite his youth and small size, Reiko attacked his former captors and exacted bloody revenge.

Impressed by the boy's spirit, General Shao made Reiko his squire. Under his tutelage, Reiko learned the ways of war. He became an exceptional soldier and is now the General's second-in-command.

Reiko's loyalty to General Shao is absolute. He will live and die by his orders.

The more things change in a timeline defined by the guiding hand of Fire God Liu Kang -- the more they stay eerily the same. Why so similar? Some answers await in Mortal Kombat 1, which will officially receive wide release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19th! Share your thoughts about the latest iteration of these characters in the Mortal Kombat 1 comments!
