MK3 Sub-Zero vs MK4 Sub-Zero?

In both these games (Original MK3 & MK4) Sub-Zero was Top/God Tier according to Test Your Might. My question is if you were to take away MK4 Sub'z side step but allow him to keep his weapon who would win a fight between these two versions of Sub-Zero with all there mechanics from their respective game caring over to this fight. Also Maximum Damage is off for MK4 Sub.

Who is the better Sub-Zero?

mk4 sub-zero was on a whole different level, but again im biased i play him no matter what his tier list is.

Oh and random question wasn't he pretty high tier in mk9 also?

MK4 Sub-Zero, only because he's wearing his brother's gear and I just prefer him with the mask on.
