- Cryomancer Kuai Liang: Deception era, Deception-influenced look. Most ice-based, most heavily armored version of Sub-Zero.

Scorpion
-Primary Scorpion: The one we saw in the trailer. Standard, MK9-era Scorpion.
-Inferno Scorpion: Armageddon era Scorpion, enraged at elder gods after his clan is resurrected as the undead. Features flaming skull head, more fire-themed moves, less weapon use.
-Hanzo Hasashi: Pre-Mortal Kombat Scorpion; human, mortal. More weapon-based attack, less sorcery/hellspawn moves. Possibly unmasked?
Liu Kang
-Primary Liu Kang: MK9 era Liu Kang, either resurrected as human or revived having survived Raiden's strike in MK9. Either way, visible injuries including burns and one discolored eye. MK9-based gameplay.
-Zombie Liu Kang: Deception/Armageddon era Liu Kang, modified zombie look; more posessed, less rotting. Chains incorporated into moveset for grappling and other specials.
- God Liu Kang: Post-Armageddon/Alt timeline Liu Kang, in which he ends up becoming a god. MK9 arcade ending-inspired look, more fire and magic based. Also, perfect place for the Dragon Morph fatality to come back.
Sonya
-MK9 era Sonya. Similar move set, heavily altered look (costume-wise).
-Armageddon-era Sonya.
-??? Can't think of anything else for Sonya. Maybe her Armageddon era look could just be an aesthetic change as well, because I can't think of anything particularly interesting gameplay-wise to change.
Kano
-MK9 era Kano. MK9 themed gameplay, story is a continuation of MK9's.
-Experiment Kano: MK Armageddon era Kano, altered moves list due to Red Dragon experiments. Moves are more tech based, and outfit includes more cybernetic modifications.
Johnny Cage
-Johnny Cage Primary: MK9 based gameplay.
-Enlightened Johnny Cage: Armageddon era, in which Johnny has renounced his superficial ways in favor of being a full-time protector EarthRealm (MKA bio and ending influenced story). More agile and light on his feet, more acrobatic moves.
-Movie Star Johnny Cage: Total opposite of MKA Johnny Cage; Johnny at his prime, cocky and self absorbed, pre-MK, height of his career. MK9 Johnny is sort of a middle ground between the other two. Pre-MK1 Johnny could just be an asthetic change from his MK9 version.
Raiden
-Raiden Primary: MK9 era Raiden... comparable to MK9 gameplay-wise, just like all the others. Less stupid, story-wise.
-Dark Raiden: Armageddon era Raiden. More agressive gameplay style, stronger variations of his electricity moves to reflect his ruthlessness.
-???
Noob Saibot
-Enlightened Bi Han- A new version of Noob that resulted from being thrown into the soulnado in MK9. His moveset is similar, but looks different (less dark, more aether-y)
-Noob Saibot- Noob from the MK3-4 Era. More like the MK9 noob gameplay-wise.
-Noob-smoke- MK Deception/Armageddon era Noob. Shadow replaced by smoke; some of smoke's moves incorporated.
Jax
-Phantom Jax: A resurrected Jax, similar to Sub-zero's, with MK9-esque gameplay.
-OIA Jax: Armageddon era Jax.
-Jax before MK3; no metal arms.
Kitana
-Resurrected Kitana from MK9
-Edenian leader Kitana; kitana from the Armageddon era.

Mileena
-Empress Mileena: Mileena after MK9; as Kahn's "daughter" she is the
rightful heir to the thrown.
-Kitana imposter Mileena: Mileena from the Armageddon era.

Smoke
-Enenra Smoke: Smoke reawakened in the netherrealm in his true form; composed of smoke and vapor, something like his MKD alt.
-Cyber Smoke: MK3 era smoke, in his cyber ninja form.
-Fusion Smoke: Armageddon era smoke: Enenra fused with some cybernetic elements, such as nano-bots. A blend between the other two gameplay styles.
Cyrax
- Cyrax: Cyber Cyrax from MK9
-MKA Cyrax: A reformed, free thinking Cyrax.
-Human Cyrax.
Sektor
- Cyber Sektor MK9 era
-Tekkuin (forgive spelling) grandmaster Sektor from MKA era.
-Human Sektor.
Kung Lao
-Phantom Kung Lao- MK9 based.
-Armageddon era Kung Lao- the enlightened warrior.
-Great Kung Lao awakened- Going off the idea that Kung Lao is the reincarnation of the great Kung Lao. This is when the spirit of Great Kung Lao becomes fully realized. Hopefully there can be some workaround to the fact that GKL's soul had been property of Shang for 500 years.
Ermac
-Ermac primary- MK9 based. As a neutral, turning good character.
-Good Ermac - Armageddon Ermac.
-King Jerrod awakened- Either Jerrod taking a higher control of Ermac, or Jerrod pre MK, before his realm was taken over and he was killed.
Jade
-Jade intertwined with the mysterious sorceress, i.e her arcade ending.
-Armageddon era Jade

Others:
Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Reptile, Baraka, Sheeva, Tanya, Reiko, Fujin, Kai, Kenshi, Frost, Havik, Skarlet, plus around five new characters.
NPCs
Shinnok- Unplayable boss character.
Goro+Kintaro- Mini-bosses during story mode. NOT the main sub-boss(es).
Jarek- I wouldn't mind just a small scene with him where he is quickly killed. Preferably thrown off a cliff, I never saw him as anything more as a Kano rip-off. Unless NRS has something really good up their sleeve, I wouldn't mind him being the one to sit out.
That's pretty much it. My roster count is a little high, especially if you consider the work that would go into making multiple versions of some characters, but hey, I'm full of wishful thinking. And some characters could be DLC, and nobody's gonna cry if we lose a Reptile here or a Baraka there.
