I haven't really had trouble using any character that i've picked up yet, all of them seem fairly decent, but I don't know who else other than my top 3 that I really want to invest time in. I have been using a decent amount of Kung Lao lately as well, this game is full of fun characters.

Damn, that's 4 down for Reptile, lol. Honestly though, after playing as him, I'm not surprised. Try as I may, he's still not my best but I have fun with him nonetheless.



Liu looks like a butt load of fun in this game. He's one of the few that I haven't taken into the Training Room yet. Oddly enough, so is Kenshi. I just studied Goro yesterday though and had a lot of fun with him.



Assassin Kitana is a great one! When choosing my runner-up, she was Piercing Mileena's contender.

Yeah, Reptile's variation options are weak. Thank god his universal specials make up for it. Nimble is easily the best imo.



War God Kotal is fantastic as well. That variation probably holds my favorite Brutality. Definitely top 3, anyway.

And I agree 100% about JC. From my experience, if you want to get anything good going with him, you have to meter burn or EX his specials.

Cage family is awesome

3- Erron Black ( Gunslinger ) Really thought i would love this character when i first saw him, but just completely fizzled out for me.

1- Sonya i am not saying she is a bad character, but i just can't seem to do anything with Mrs. Blade

2- Kotal a character i really like, but have a very difficult time playing him well.

3- Reptile Syzoth is a great character, but again another case of not being able to play him to what he is capable of.

Worst (of characters that I attempt to play) is Kenshi. but I'm Def working on him and vastly imporving.

It didn't seem likely at first, but I'm annihilating with General Blade considerably more so than I did in MK9. Covert Ops 80% of the time. We're getting along famously.

Surprisingly, I'm doing quite well with Impostor Shinnok, as well. Ravenous Mileena is a very close third. And I'm getting there with Commando Kano! The fearsome foursome is almost ready!


However, I am absolutely crestfallen when it comes to Johnny Cage. Dude was supposed to my second main, dude! So sad. It's not that I just can't win with him... it's that the way to win with him isn't clicking with me. It's not nearly as fun as I thought it would be. I didn't and still don't like Stunt Double and the Charged Specials, which leaves me with Fisticuffs... The strength here is rushing down and ending as many combos as you can with Nut Punch for a standing reset. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat. Nut Punch into low-hitting combo into Nut Punch; Nut Punch into overhead into Nut Punch... if I want variety, I have to end a combo with the Shadow Kick, throw a few fireballs, then get in again for the same techs. I've tried many times over, trust me, but I can't have fun playing Johnny in MKX... It's disheartening. Still love him, though.

One could argue Covert Ops Sonya is "the same thing", but it's not. Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Parry gives one such a rush of satisfaction that it ups her fun meter many degrees. Her mix-ups will usually end with Military Stance, which is a lot more fun than neutral Nut Punch. Dive Kick, Arc Kick, Leg Grab all satisfying and useful in various scenarios.

I haven't fully given up on Johnny, though... Gonna come back to him down the line.

I'm with you Leo, Johnny was going to straight up be my main, but after messing with him for awhile (Not too long, a couple towers and about 15 minutes in practice mode) I wasn't enjoying it. He was a ton of fun in MK9, not so much in MKX so far. Like you, I think I might go back and try him out again down the line. However, my mains in MK9 were Kitana and Kung Lao, so they were next.

Kitana is by far my best, and I prefer Royal Storm, namely for the extra range on the fan lift as well as the butt charge. Unfortunately, she seems to be the only one I can string solid combos together with. I want to get better with someone else, because she doesn't have an overhead starter and no low starter either :(. I guess it is probably just because her fans make it real easy to string stuff together, especially when you add the ranged fan lift.

Kung Lao is hard to get used to. He has got a lot of options, and I haven't found anything I really like in his variations other than Buzzsaw. I can get some decent combos together, but I definitely have some work to do with him. I find it pretty easy to keep pressure on with Kung Lao as opposed to many of the other characters.

Today I took Erron Black Outlaw into the practice room after watching some of "Fatal 8" again. Damn he has got a great overhead and low starter, his versatility and range are top notch and you add that command grab in there and I think he's next to unbeatable in the right hands. Plus the range on that neutral jump punch is great in the outlaw variation.
