You forgot MK9 which had all the MK1 characters in it... Which would actually make MKX the 5th. And even without MK9, it would be the 4th time, not the 3rd time as you are saying. Can't you count?

I don't mind having the original MK1 characters in the roster, as long NRS don't forget that there are lots of fans of the characters from the other games and would like to see those appear as well.

MK9 had the Trilogy characters, so it would only make sense for MKX to have more characters from the 3D era - like MKD starred those who didn't make it to MKDA, plus more new characters.

Either way, as long Reiko and Tanya makes it to MKX, I would be happy. Then the rest of the roster could be whoever else NRS wish to put in.

I don't think it's surprise anyone. We all know the MKI-II characters are the sacred cow of the franchise and like most series they retain their roster between iterations plus coupled with the fact that the devs have already said fans will be very pleased with the returning roster I don't think anyone will be surprised.

They were the ones to start off the series y ́know. That in itself should never be the reason to put them all in, but you can expect they always have a big chance. And I ́m still not convinced that, besides the confirmed ones, all of them are in. I mean, it ́s still just a rumor that Kang, Cage and Sonya are all there or have I missed something? No actual images have been seen from these three.

Not really surprising since the many of those characters are staples of the franchise.

Liu Kang has been in every game except Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and even then he made a cameo. This is a no brainer. Only Sub-Zero has been in more games and that is only because Sub-Zero is in every game. Has unfinished business as well.

Johnny Cage is in every game except Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Deception. The fact that he was one of the survivors from the last game and he has a daughter only strengthen his cause. Probably very important in the narrative.

Sonya is in every game except Mortal Kombat 2 where she can been seen locked up and Mortal Kombat Deception. Same for her as Johnny Cage. She looks to be very important to the story and has a daughter.

All of these characters are familiar to Mortal Kombat fans and are very popular. If any of these characters made it then I would not mind. Bring it on.I support NRS and their decisions. I think they know best.

On subject, I would not be upset I would actually be happy. I personally see the mk1-3 characters being the foundation; the poster boys and girls and everything else is additional content. I would like it more if only the necessary mk4-D characters made it in and everything else was new..

I think the 3 will take part in one way or another. Rather just part of storymode, cameo or playable.

Liu Kang- Hoping not to see him human if he does make it. Cosidering he died, I'd like to see him charred and fiery. Just picure a charrred corpse with Blaze merged into to him Playable.

Johnny Cage- This guy needs to be in the main roster. He sould have his new look (Seido) with his new found powers from Orderrealm. Playable.

Sonya- She might just have a role in storymode. If she is to be playable, have her doing some different. Maybe she was captured and brain-washed by Kano and now she is part of the Back Dragon. Just a thought.

On another note, Johnny, Cassie and Sonya may all be in the Special Forces/O.I.A.

Another thing came to mind. What if they had Kano as the Special Forces/O.I.A head security? Part of the story could be taking from Kano's MK9 ending, where Jax hacked into his cybernetic altering his mind.
From there, moving towards the end of the story, Johnny and Cassie set out on an adventure. Sonya stayed back as well as Kano. A war came about, Sonya and Kano had to fight (together). While in midst of the war, something interfered with Kano's cybernetics. He got his true memory back and attacked Sonya and killing her. Kano went into hiding. Johnny and Cassie return to find Sonya dead.

Who knows, maybe one of the three may return as the main boss. Refering to Sonya, Johnny or Liu. As Liu being predictable as boss, Sonya or Johnny would be x1million if either was boss.

I don't really understand the point of this thread, though. So what if MKX has the MK1 cast again?

To me, they're the core group of characters that an MK should always have. Also, this game will be made up of close to 24 characters, so there was always a chance that they would be in it.

I'm happy they're in it. All but Reptile, Shang, and Goro are yet to be confirmed. I could do without Goro.

Goro (as well as Kintaro), can stay far away from MKX as possible. Have them killed off at the very start of storymode.

MK9, no matter if you want it to be or not, is still a stand-alone game and not an update or compilation game. It's not a remake of the first three games.
