Sean's confirmed it, the ninja IS Reptile, just in very bright light it seems.

What was the exact wording again? I've forgotten and am too lazy to find it.
Did it explicitly say that an ally of Kotal dies or did it just say Kotal loses a valuable ally?
If it's the second, wouldn't it be D'vorah that he loses? She doesn't seem to like him anymore in the game.

It doesn't explicitly say, but the implication is there:
In issue #3, as the civil war in Outworld rages on, Kotal Kahn suffers an unimaginable loss and enlists the power of the Kamidogu to avenge his fallen ally. But will blood magic make Kotal powerful enough to take down Outworld’s champion? Enter: Goro!!quote>

It's been Reptile since day 1. How some of you didn't notice the beak-like mask and the eyes is beyond me. And no, I'm not speaking from hindsight; as soon as Kittelsen narrowed it to Chameleon and Reptile, it was quite obvious.

I think that this is going to be the story of his origins and some random dude from Kotal's tribe that happens to be his childhood best friend or something similar is killed, which enfuriates him and makes him go kamidogu. I think the core squadron of D'Vorah, Reptile, Erron Black and Ferra&Torr is safe.
