Wouldn't say return because in a way he never left, in the minds of the brothers. Instead monitored rivals of the sovereignty, for a duration, while staying in the shadows. He remained being probed in the system of Nekros. Solely to resurface with no obligation to concern himself with anybody. Only a desire in his own movement with the aspiration for utmost secrecy in his ploy.
I expect him to be alluded to in the story mode. His presence will be felt by Subby/Raiden/ or Quan Chi. We will get a blurry answer to what happened to him in the soulnado. (even if this Subby is Bi Han I believe it will still play out as such.)
But I do not see him being playable in MKX. Rather, I see him being in the shadows until he rises again in MKXI.
In fact I will go as far as to say he will appear in a character's arcade ending.
