I really hate the unrealistic looking graphics mk have since it went 3d.It's time for real return to the roots and make the game all digitized mixed with 3d effects for backgrounds and some other elements. I think today the digitized graphics will be looking outstanding with modern technology.

how about MKSM2 as a 2d side-scroller, with digitized actors? that would look awesome! MK10 will most likely be similar in style to MK9, but I wouldn't mind a new core title in the series using digitized actors again

I agree that digitized actors can be implemented in maybe as in the "Choose Your Fighter" Screens and "Vs. Mode" Screens but
in terms of gameplay I'd rather them resort to the animation work.
Because the animations for specialty moves, bloodspill, ripped clothing, backdrops, weapons etc. would be limited compared to scale of animation where there's more a creative plane to generate special effects and animations.

Another aspect I see is the limitations of the actors. Actors playing several characters whom maybe master of several disciplines can incorporate themselves in other characters when needed without being easily detected. When using digitized actors, you limit your character to just one character unless they would be playing characters that are masked up such as ninja characters or characters who wear masks as a part of their attire. A well-known martial artist say that of a Jean Claude Van-Damme couldn't play a character such as Cyrax or even a female character, like Kitana if they were digitized. With animation work, it would be easier to pull of stunts like that in terms of visuals/and fighting mechanics created for the game.

I also see the more actors you use, the more in costs, which means less money going into animation or other areas of the game that need revamping. So in less they were able to have actors fullfill their roles within a predetermined budget that would be fine but then you hamper your abilities in other areas if they're is a budget constraint.

yeah, they could. it looked very grimy and realistic, i prefer that instead "cartoony" graphics. but i don't see this happen...

but hell, i just wanted to share this with some of you guy's. have you ever dreamed about a mortal kombat game with jackie chan, or a game like MK starring jackie chan?? well, the last one is actually an arcade game that is produced by jackie chan himself confused yeah and its awesome! somehow balanced and has good game-play. its called jackie chan fist of fire! lol

I too would love a more realistic look for the next game.

The problem with HD digitized actors, it has the potential to look VERY cheezy. I mean look at the live action Kitana/Mileena Vita trailers for MK9 or the leaked screens of the canned HD remakes, I don't want some cheap looking halloween costumes. It would probably require them alot more time as well.

You want Mortal Kombat to look like Death Cargo?

That "game" is nothing more but a mere joke that's supposed to be a homage to all of the past classic fighting games.

What Mortal Kombat 2011 looks now looks absolutely stunning. It doesn't need to go back to digitized actors. It's finally where the creators can do so much, and no cheap animation tactics that Death Cargo whips out can ever be as good as what Mortal Kombat can do being nothing but pure computer graphic.

Seriously, we have the Hulk in daisy dukes... Need I write more?

If they stick with 3D, I really hope the ditch the current character models, I want more realistic and differentiable anatomy.

agree. i find it really hard to point out what needs to be done, so they look more realistic. still the character models look like "action man" figures to me. somehow they seem like their made of plastic, instead of flesh.

i remember reading an article that wrote that NRS has deliberately chosen to use a "cartoon" style for MK9. at first sight it isn't clear that they used this "cartoon" filter. but if u get a closer look, u will see some "cartoon" properties.

some effects that might help to give the char. a more realistic approach,

* less shining char. models.
* less bulky char. models.
* taller and slimmer char. models.
* darker color pallets.
