for all the people pissed about the way mortal kombat has become over the years because of the story why not start over. just go back to mk 1 and do a remake like for example king kong. it was a classic movie and they redid it. it happens all the time and why not re do the franchise. it will refreshen everyone how the story came to play. the gameplay will no doubtly be sick, i like how the gameplay was in mk vs dcu. it wass badass even the story was pretty cool. we just need the m rating to get the classic gory feeling. so take the new system engines and restart the franchise maby fix some things that didnt make sense. it might be cool

Because it's inconsiderate of current events, and disrupts the simple concept of "continue". 1 then 2 then 3....all the way up to MKA....then 1 again.

Nah, I rather it progress, grow, and continue.

I don't think it's a bad idea, I just don't want that right now. I want something actually new.

I think there has already been enough games based around the first 3 installments. I mean ALL the spin-offs take place around MK2's timeline and I'm kind of getting sick of seeing those original characters (Lui Kang, Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung).

We need to move on and carry on from where Deception (or Armageddon) left off.

Please NO MORE MK games set around MK1-3 timeline... we've had too many already. And PLEASE leave dead characters dead (Kang, Tsung, Kahn, etc).

I wouldn't mind it as long as it didn't slow down the next MK. The remake of resident evil was pretty cool.

i wouldn't actually mind if they started MK from scratch. that way they could fix up the continuity and have a fresh start.

Definitely. If Star Trek, of all franchises, with well over 40 years of established continuity, can start over, then MK certainly can.

I don't think it's bad idea. Maybe they can make a MK that takes set during the time of the original Kung Lao. It could work. But on the other side...I would really like to see a follow up MK where they (really) wipe the state clean and start all over. Kinda the same idea except it takes place after deception.

if they're making a spin off tey'll surely put in the most famous characters and the game will be setted during mk1-mk3 time.and i agree with them.
who in th hell is dairou or hotaru?Lame characters, crappier than Kano.

about the remake...i think MKDA was somekind of remake, setted 10 years later, all chars from MK1(except for liu kang and goro)were brought back.just 1 fatality and remake of classic attires.

I wouldn't mind a remake, but considering how MKSM reinterpreted MK2, I'd be leery of how the MK team would rewrite the bios and endings. At this point, I wouldn't put it past them to screw up anything story-related, no matter how simple.

I think a remake would be a great idea!

They could return to their original ideas and update them. The could also rethink many concepts that got passed over the first time.

What would this look like? Jackson Briggs (as Curtis Stryker) was supposed to be in the original MK. This time Jax would be!

Other ideas include:

Old Shang Tsung wielding a sword; add Rokuro the barbarian to the roster; Goro updated and, maybe, playable; female kombatants as kharacters in there own right and not replacements for male kombatants (from the beginning); Tundra and Michael Grimm added to the roster (for giggles); Reptile and Ermac as a player kharacters; palette swapped characters given more individuality and orginality; Sonya's brother, called Blade, as a kombatant; and, finally, minor characters given serious consideration (Tasia, Tremor, Kia, Jataaka, Hornbuckle, etcetera).

i'd like a complete remake but in 5-6 years if mk is still pumping out the franchise then i'd be all for it. but for now just keep making sequels.
