I really want to know why people hate the pre-order. I honestly don't see what's so bad about it.

Well I don't hate it but I can see why. It is because the people that can't pre-order the game can't play as him. That means they either have to buy him as DLC or wait till the Komplete Edition comes out.

...
The same reason why everyone hates pre-orders. Consumers are penalised if they do not pre-order because the pre-order content is then only available as paid DLC later on. The pre-order content is finished before the game goes gold so most feel like it should be in the game and should not have to pay for the content on top of paying for the game unless they pre-order.

Don't hate it. It's just wack. Goro doesn't hype me up to preorder the game. A kollector's edition announcement would though.

People don't lose any money with the pre-order. It's more of an early access really, which I could see people hating that. Not all pre-order items become purchasable dlc though. Sometimes they're free in a month or two.

Early access? WTF are you smoking? Can I have some? It's on the disc dude, it's locked content. There is absolutely no justifying this. I'm probably gonna pre-order it because I'm a hopeless MK addict but with that said I'm not happy about it.

If by "everyone" you mean a few people then it's probably because they don't like Goro. I personally haven't seen anyone hating on him. Some people don't like preordering in general and I'm one of them unless it's a game I'm hyped for. I had mkx preordered before Goro was even announced because I'm an mk nerd but I'm usually against that sort of thing, especially on disc stuff like goro most likely is.

Sorry to be smart ass lol but this doesn't need to be explained. It's a fighting game that won't be complete without doing something extra. I mean it's inexcusable for any genre but it's just kind of mind blowing how bad of decision this is when it comes to fighting games. This kind of stuff will make tournaments and online more difficult.
When I buy pizza I get the whole pizza. I don't have to order the pizza before I get there to get all the toppings.

Pre-order stuff is troublesome for me coz I live in Asia, but my primary PSN account is a US one and it's not easy to import these games with their pre-order bonuses included sometimes.
Although I hope the dlc stuff gets bundled in the Kollector's Edition. I would love to get that like I did for MK9.

This. While I can understand having minor things like in game items and costumes. We're talking about a whole character here for that matter, which is more significant IMO.

Yes, early access. The same for Tekken Tag 2 with the likes of Kunimitsu. I am not arguing that it isn't on the disc or anything like that or how stupid it is. I used to work with a company that hosted local tournaments a couple years ago, and this made things very difficult for Tekken Tag 2, especially when people who mained those characters were around (I myself mained Kunimitsu in the game). But it doesn't alter the fact that it's an early access (to disc locked content). People who pre-ordered had access to what was already on a disc before anyone who didn't. But they eventually got those characters for free. Besides, we don't even know for sure if Goro is Disc Locked Content. Most likely it is because of how early they've announced him. But some games with day 1 DLC were actually Downloadable Content. DOA5 is an example of this. I was shocked when I discovered that the costumes for that weren't locked content on the disc.
Putting $5 down on a game you damn well know you are getting (I assume if you are a part of this forum you are the core MK audience) doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I agree that the idea of getting a character that is on-disc is pretty wack, but I'd be pre-ordering anyway so not a big deal. That said, the whole vendor-specific outfit crap they pulled in MK9 (exclusive retro ninja outfits/fatality from Best Buy, Amazon, Gamestop) drives me nuts! I actually have to pre-order still. Was going to hold out to see what Special editions were being created, but I can always pre-order and upgrade on the fly.

Because it's just shitty old Goro.
He hasn't been much of a threat since arguably the MK Movie (the same movie where he gets punched in the balls and falls off a cliff)
You can all laugh at Sheeva and Kitty-taro but over the years Goro gets talked down by Taven, participated in a weird pseudo-feud with Johnny Cage, Gets a hat thrown at him during Peace talks, Dies except not really, Pulls a Reptile and goes back to serving Shao Kahn, He just shows up as the MK4 sub-boss with not enough of an explanation.
...Oh yeah and getting trounced alot during MK9 which I guess is fine for everyone else but the former champion of Mortal Kombat has never fallen so low as to get beat on by a blue tin can while tagging WITH Kintaro.
Goro has long since lost his "strong terrifying champion" novelty for me. And out of the three he's always been the most vanilla in comparison to a ruthlessly violent lower class Shokan and the Shokan whose loyalty is more to her people than Shao Kahn.
But I don't hate it. I just don't see any reason to get excited about it and immediately pre-order.

I can't pre order it, which means I'll have to pay to get content that is already on the disc I bought. And, not only will I have to pay, I'll also have to wait about a month or so before I can get it. I didn't mind when it was skins, as in MK9 and Injustice, but doing that with a character in fighting game is just really shitty.
I mean, even if I could pre order, I would still think is a shitty move, people who want to wait for reviews to come out, or that because of X or Y reason won't get it on launch day are being forced to pay extra for something that is on their disc. It's just wrong.

Some have legit reasons, others just dislike it. Some like Goro, others feel it should've been a differenct character or something else in general.
I personally don't mind it unless I really want it. Most of the time I don't get it, but when I do, it's satisfying

I agree with this ^
Im going to pre order anyway to see if they made Goro an actual scary threat this time, and not just simply a slow moving turd.
If you want people to rush into a pre-order just to play as a boss. Pick somebody stronger like Onaga. Onaga could actually be the damn best fit as the MK Logo itself for christ sakes, and could be made scarier then Goro. Who better then a brand new evil Dragon King?

I have no idea. People seem to be very anti pre-order now a days and it's annoying. It doesn't cost extra, just $5 in advance that you can get refunded at any time.

While it's not the end of the world for me, I find it rather annoying that we can't just buy the whole damn game anymore these days. I don't mean to sound like an old geezer, but I miss the old days where we bought a complete game and we experienced the fun of just doing something to unlock these characters we now have to pre-order or sometimes pay extra for. It's an irritating trend, just give us the whole game with all of the characters.

I'm not excited about the pre order because it IS Goro. He's been around since mk1 and hasn't really changed. Would you be super stoked if Raiden was available as a pre order bonus? Or Shang Tsung? Goro has lost his wow factor a long time ago. They should have gone with someone no one was expecting.. Like Motaro for example. I know he has his haters out there but I'm just using him as an example. People would be Sooo suprised because no one expects him to come back. they would be like, what's he going to be like? How's he going to play? What kind of fatalities will he have? What's his story!? Or if it was Tremor or some other brand new or rumored character! It would spike people's curiosity.
I'm even a Goro fan, Using him to spike pre orders is just Bleh
Incidentally.. Technically they could bring Motaro back from the dead since all the other fighters are somehow alive as well ????

Goro is a classic. He may not be the mecca badass to a lot of newer age fans and that's understandable given the amount of brutes in mk today. However, you can't deny his intimidating presence in the very first mk in the 90s. At that time it was a big deal. He was also to ring leader shang tsung what kintaro is to kahn.
Thus to me makes his being in this game not only nostalgic but hype as well. This should be a good mash up vs Torr fans. And lets face it. It will be nice to play a newer more defined goro then the clunky and less refined one they had in mkd/a.

I just hate the fact that they still mention a pre-order with no gameplay whatsoever. Sure, you can fight as Goro. But the company still fails to explain whether or not if said character is only playable as a DLC Story Mode Chapter, or is he a character roster?
Also, I have personal morals about already made content being cut out for DLC.
