Why do we need to know so damn much about the game?

posted03/21/2015 03:02 PM (UTC)byUltimateRyuWe probably already know at least 90% of the final roster and by the time the game releases probably 50% of the fatalities. We know who the guest characters are now and basically how the story will play out thanks to the comic and NetherKast. Goro and Shinnok are in probably as sub boss and boss. Havik is the blood demon. We know all the game modes, special moves and variations. What happened to the magic of being genuinely surprised by an MK game?

The more I know, the more hyped I get.

It's a conscious effort to preserve it these days.
Roster is really my only concern at this point, but it's not even a big one. Just hoping for a bit more diversity. Meaning, diversity amongst characters from ALL the games. From it's announcement, I did crave information. I just wanted to know what to expect from the story, game modes and such. But I didn't really need an in depth walkthrough. I was sold at Netherrealm War and Outworld Civil War tbh.
I still enjoy participating in spoiler free discussions though. So here I be.

Samesies. The more I know about the game I am spending upwards of $90+ on, the better.
My hype goes through the roof. I know not everyone enjoys knowing things, and you don't have to. Nobody twists anyones arm to come to these forums and read spoilers. They can happily just stay off them until the 14th if they wanted!!!
But for me, knowing is half the battle so to speak. Its no different than the 90s, getting every magazine I fucking could to see what was happening in MK. I just replaced the magazines with internet forums is all.

Because it is fun and I can't afford the game right now so if I know everything now or at least most of it. It will hype me up when I buy it.

Because if I blindly waste money on a MK game and know NOTHING about it and it turns out to be shit.
Whose fault is it for not doing research?

Not sure. I don't need to know anymore, but I still come to see because I like discussing the stuff with other MK fans.

Everything? We barely know anything. The roster isn't a spoiler or a secret that needs to be kept. Where are the game modes? Where are the challenge towers? Where is the krypt?

Didn't they just demo Test Your Luck and Kustom Kombat? There's two. Arcade/Single makes three. Oh, and correct me if I'm wrong (although I can't see them leaving this out anyhow), but I want to say I've caught wind of Test Your Might. Four modes if true. There's a lot more information floating around than meets the eye.

I'd be happy if Ed said MKX will have 32 Kharacters
This many from MK9
This many from MK4-MKA
This many New
This Many Stages
Story Mode is 18 Chapters
These are the game modes
We will reveal 25% of the game
It would keep these boards hopping until release
Maybe with MK11

Lord knows how on earth you would've survived the '90s releases, then.

I really don't care about spoilers. I'm getting the game and I know I'm going to more than likely enjoy the game. I can either find stuff out now or later but either way to me it's basically the same. Can't really spoil the story since I'm largely uninterested in it and I don't really care outside of it dictating which characters will be in the game. To me it's all about the basic gameplay and as such I want to know the roster and I want to see the variations.

A fighting game is based around the characters, so knowing 95% of the roster is important. There are still some newbies like Erron Black and Jacqui that still need to be shown off as well. I don't mind a few surprises in the roster though.
The only thing I really don't want spoiled is story. I don't want to know shit about the story until I beat it myself.

Same here, really. I don't mind seeing who's in, or how they look revamped, but i don't want to know what they do or how they fight. I'm avoiding the story info, Xrays, Fatalities, etc because i consider them spoilers. I have no interaction with the comics either, so it's super weird how most everyone goes on about them and i'm just like, 'Whut? There's a dagger kamidogu? That makes no sense.'
