Assassins Creed or The Order 1886... Netherrealm & Midway have NEVER been able to do good faces. They are ALWAYS generic looking with terrible non exsistant details... Costumes as well. While the costumes look good (on some charecters) they are usually pretty bland in texture, and they always make everything look rubberized. I dont understand why they cannot make cloth look like cloth... Items never flow property either. Hair is a big one, it always moves in one big clump (Sindel/Fujin for example) Johnny Cage always looks like a plastic Ken doll.
Ive always wished for a MK game where the detail looks like the customes in Assassins Creed, cloth looks like cloth and it flows natural. Then I was just watching The Order 1886 demo and looking at the faces was like WOW...
A fighting game is so much less memory & time to develope than a game like 1886, Assassins Creed or the Uncharted series, yet those developers get it right every time and Midway/Netherrealm never does and I dont get why...
Im a die hard MK fan, and while this game looks amazing in some aspects, and help but cringe at Raiden & now Kung Lao... They look brutally generic costume-wise. Again, detail very lacking, bad textures etc... And once again everyones face in the game looks horrible with no effort...
Im just curious as to WHY?? Are the programmers just lazy or they dont know how to do it?? This is an issue with EA games too... While EA is a master of faces, they are awful with cloth (and lighting) their jerseys always look shiney rubber...

So your comparing MK Armageddons in game models (you mentioned Fujin) against Assasins creed Black flags CGI Cutscenes?
While MKX isn't the best in graphics, Assassins Creeds sucked graphically, their faces are so unrealistic. I agree with you... part of this is Unreal Engine ( their PS2 era engine isn't any good either)
I think if they could bring the details of id tech engine... (Rage and Wolfenstein had excellent detailed facial graphics and hair)
u can't help it anyway.

Immortalkombat >>So your comparing MK Armageddons in game models (you mentioned Fujin) against Assasins creed Black flags CGI Cutscenes?<< No Im comparing MK9/MKX to the even the FIRST Assassins Creed in terms of COSTUMES.... Dont put words in my mouth to try & look clever...
And Im comparing MKX on PS4 to Assassins Creed on PS3 Uncharted PS3 and 1886 on PS4...
MK games always have bad face models, & rubberized looking cloth, everyone knows that... Its not an argument starter its a question of WHY cant they ever seem to get it right...
Can you honestly say that the heads/face models in MK games look better than the generic face creator on any EA game, last gen or current gen? No you cant, so dont sound so mad about it... I love the games but dont understand this aspect of their programming And Im also not comparing anything to CGI cutscenes, im comparing to actual gameplay...

Mortal Kombat does GREAT masks.. If you have a mask, the characters head will look great, but bare face, its brutal... D'Vorahs, Raidens, Cassies are so mehh... Kung Laos looked decent in MK9, but now he looks like a generic white guy like everyone else

Did you honestly expect nice responses from users on this site with a thread like this?

MKX has improved immensely in terms of faces. Can you not?

You really think the faces/costumes I mentioned are an improvement? These same models couldve been done on last gen systems... They are laughable on next gen systems... I understand fan boys, but like I said, im a die hard and always will be, but come on.... Admitting it doesnt hurt your fanboy resume...
And again, the butt hurts on this thread still havnt answered the question, why cant midway/netherrealm do faces & cloth, even with current technology this still looks last gen...

Nobody can answer a question that is based on personal opinion. For me, MKX is the best looking fighting game - better than KI, VF5 and the latest Tekken. MK9 did have some problems with ugly female faces, but MKX shows undeniable improvement. So my answer is - you're a biased hater and actually you don't deserve an answer.

I've been playing Injustice for the past several days, and I can already tell you that there is a vast improvement with the character models already in MKX.

wow no I know why I havnt posted on here in like what? 8 years... No one could read then and no one can read now... I never said assassins creed faces -- I said COSTUMES... I said 1886 Faces & EA Faces...
Thanks for the responses on those who actually did read what I said... To those that got royally mad about it and like to make up statements- LMFAO....
The point - which those would cant read obviously missed was, why cant Neatherrealm on past & current gen systems make realistic faces and realistic textures in clothing... That might be easier for the illiterates to read and under stand better without the mentions of other games... Backgrounds are great, masks are great, gameplay is great but cloth, hair, faces, skin, textures & details have always been horrid and generic since they moved away from digitized after MK3...
I guess I kind of expected insight comments from people that actually have programming & graphic design experience on if their was some complication with certain gaming engines, were certain engines cannot do materials well (EA & Midway/Neatherrealm) and some can... And some engines can do faces well and some cant and some can do both well

Yes, hair is not great even in MKX - I'll have to agree with that, but I don't see anything wrong with the costumes.

Waaaaah! They don't have to be like other game creators. One of the main differences between the faces of MKX and EA is that EA actually digitally scans the faces of sports figures and real people for their games. In MKX, they're building faces from scratch. It's honestly unfair to compare the two. It's almost like comparing MKX's fighting engine with the fighting engine of NHL15.

meh! It's a fighting game, I'd rather they focus on the fighting mechanics and balancing first and then worry about how well hair flows,
I can hack a bad hair on a good fighting game
But I won't put up with a bad fighting game just because it's got pretty hair and faces

Pretty much this.
Although Naughty Dog also makes faces fron scratch.

As far as MKX is concerned I don't really see a problem with the faces, but maybe I just don't know what a face is supposed to look like lol
