It's why Hsu Hao most likely will not have a chance to return here. (Ignore all the "Kano has his parts so it wouldn't make sense" bull) He's not that well liked amongst a lot of the fans. And granted I've mentioned this before, somewhere else on this site, that characters do deserve a second chance to redeem themselves to be liked, I just for some random reason, don't see either of these two returning, as much as I liked Drahmin. His story was cool, his concept was neat, gameplay could have been better, but I just don't see him returning for this, and if he was saved as a surprised... I hope you've been paying close attention to people's reactions here.
I mean if Goro's DLC's inclusion pissed people off, you think Drahmin being saved for a last surprise will make things better?

Sorry, OP. I was probably a bit more harsh than I intended to be. I think that I was just mildly annoyed at the block of text, but Icebaby's right, that's no reason to be hostile.
I hope that Drahmin returns. He has a cool story and a cool design concept, but his moves certainly need some work (also agree with Icebaby on that front).
That's kinda the story with a lot of the 3D era characters as far as I'm concerned. Kira had a cool background, but had Kano/Sonya moves. Havik had an awesome look and a story that made him a real wild card, but his moves, to me at least, were pretty ridiculous.
Bo Rai Cho looks unique (in his style) and could easily fit in to the story, but his moves were corny. Hotaru looked awesome and very unique for an MK character, but he basically had a bicycle kick and a ground freeze that popped the opponent up.
I don't think that there are many out and out "bad" character designs from top to bottom that I'd completely scrap. I just think that for many, it's just a matter of timing. If Mavado was an MK1 character that got his move list, look and playstyle fleshed out over the course of several games the way the rest of the MK1 cast has, I feel pretty confident that he'd be just as much of a sacred cow as the rest of them are today.
So yeah, if given a real move list that was unique to the character, I'd love to see all of the ones mentioned already as well as Nitara, Li mei, Kobra, Darrius, Sareena and several others return.
I get the feeling now that NRS looks at the 3D years as something of a low point era for the series, with some characters only half-realized or even less, and just seems to want to go forward in a new direction (why else restart the story?).
Many fans appear to feel the same way, so it's just sort of the accepted norm that these characters were somehow not good or not up to par with the trilogy characters. So I think that a lot of these characters will be left in the dust, which is really a shame.
Ermac started off with a bland green projectile, a stock teleport punch and a slam move that looked so ridiculous I thought that it was a glitch the first time I saw it. Look at him now. The poll champion this year. Awesome look. Awesome moves. Very cool background and story.
I know that the creative minds at NRS could do the same for some of the 3D characters, but who knows, maybe it's just easier for people to see their flaws and discard them in favor of a brand new concept instead of trying to fix something that's a little less than perfect to begin with.
Or maybe after 20+ years, new directions and new characters is how Boon and many other guys that have been on the team for a long time are able to keep the game fresh for themselves. Maybe it's a combination of things.
Either way, I hope that these characters, Drahmin included, get another chance to shine at some point.
