That was their plan untill WB came a knocking on Midway's door with the VS thing, hopefully one day we will see a game setting out to the new cast and dark and gritty kombat hopefully if midway survives this financial mess there in.

*That was the plan I believe. Ofcourse they didn't follow through with it, and rushed the game, and threw in characters from ten years ago. This is why a good percentage of gamers look down upon Mortal Kombat. It's the perfect series to me, and the community, but it's been out dated for a decade now.

they did somewhat of it in /MKV DC, but it is a half azz job, so.....

with WB there, the team still develope itself, so it won't change much. sure there will be a new game with new things, but somethings(had to be kept if it is still mk,

Not a rumor, it was said, and the intent was even there. But as Kombat19 stated, MkvsDc took priority over a scheduled "Mk only" game that would've had the "reinvention" that you're talking about.

They still did deliver on the "new characters" thing, kinda with MkvsDc. But it looks like we'll be waiting to see if it will really happens next go round.

There are a couple rumors out there right now that you might be interested in however.

1.) One rumor is that there is another game in the making. Another RPG type game like MK: Shaolin Monks.

2.) More like the second half of that^^ rumor, is that there is also another "official"//"traditional" MK game in the works as well. Some of the members here have been scantly reporting posts on Twitter, Myspace and other websites of MkTeam members, getting online and blogging or what have you, about these things.

i think of it because of mk vs dc but hopefully the next mk will have a brand new refreshing cast with a good story and some decent moves that never appeared in a past mk game.
