Im not talking about explict sex scenes or nudity.Im talking about explict scenes of violence and gore. How far do you think MK would have to go in order to achieve an AO rating?

I'm not sure on this (I'm from the UK)but AO is generally restricted to porn, isn't it?

I mean unless they make it super realistic I mean animated organs flopping out, bones breaking through skin etc. But even then I dont think it would be AO.

Manhunt 2 was titled AO for a while...

But if it's too gory to a point where we would shit our pants because it's that fucking good. BRING ON THE AO TITLE!

i'd like if mk was AO but it be nearly impossible to find at stores because most games stores don't want nothing to do with the amount of content which is considered to graphic or sexual. here are a few AO titles that are hard to find Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Manhunt 2, Cyberwomen. i think that's the name of it were you can do anything with a womens body.

if stores carry it i'm all for it. bring on M for Mature or AO.

Manhunt was AO because of the extremely ralistic gore and violence, MK's gallons of blood is anything but. They'd have to do more than zapping heads, like long dragged out, truly brutal fatalities

It would be sick. If the violence is too realistic - it is disturbing. And if it doesn't disturb you - you are sick. So I don't need AO rating at all. I want satisfying gameplay instead!

Australia might have a problem with it if it was an AO game.
In the UK it wouldn't make a difference really as we only have an 18 cert. as the highest (which is what MK is usually sold as - except MKvDC).

But yeah, the certificate rating isn't all that important compared to how much of a makeover the gameplay needs.

The Mortalman is correct. When the planets align and I manage pull off a fatality I don't want to feel bad for it. Its something that needs to be finished under a minute. Something you will laugh at or go ewwwwww at.

Not something that is drawn out and akin to torture. Thats not Mortal Kombat.

It would be a horrible move if Midway planned to make money off of it.

And also, completely pointless. The M rating can take the violence pretty far. I'd like to see them push it, but keep it out of Adults Only.

to be honest...it would bea new beginning.
i didn't like the childish style of some gory fatality..i mean why i should laugh when i kill my opponent like the prvius MK games8especially the 2d ones?)
Or why should get bored with a fatality(MK vs DCu)?

to be honest Ed Boon promised us a serious game...no joking this time.
so yeah i'd love to see a really dark and sick scary game but considering how harsh are some rating systems and how much success gained MK with his unique style of laughs and violence..i doubt that Midway will pull out AO game.

though...i wouoldn't be such a bad idea.
Count me in for the AO rating

I will stay with the M rating. I don't want the game to be banned.

Robocop was originally NC-17 (the movie equivalent of AO). It wasn't too disturbing, but it was quite a lot more than usual R-rated films.

Robocop was originally NC-17 (the movie equivalent of AO). It wasn't too disturbing, but it was quite a lot more than usual R-rated films.

First of all, NC-17 didn't even exist when RoboCop was released. It was an X-rated movie.

Second of all, NC-17 is NOT a movie equivalent of AO in games, which is an additional rating. The game equivalent (in US) to NC-17 (No Children Under 17 Admitted) is M (Mature), which "contains content that is more suitable for people the age of 17 and above" and is exactly what MK games have been (except the last one of course). AO (Adults Only) is something distinctly above the M rating.

And third of all, if you think that original Alex Murphy's execution, where his forearm is ripped to shreds by a shotgun blast and the following scene where the rest of the arm is shot off with the accompaniment of the victim's scream and after multiple gunshots he gets a final one in the head, while crawling and sobbing out of pain on the floor flood with blood, wasn't too disturbing, then... yeah, I've said it already.

Nothing wrong with wanting it to be realistic AND a good fighting system, even if some or many people find it disturbing. Then again, not everyone is a sick as me.

HOWEVER! An AO rating? No, no, no... Sales would simply go down. Nintendo holds no AO games, and M games are bought quite a bit... AO isn't bought too much.

As well, MK would want nintendo on their side, it's an extra console to sell on.
