I think this would be really cool

I really like this too.

In response to OP, i think the Sub-Zero in this game will be completely 'new'. But that in itself could lead to a twist of where this cryomancer's origins lie. 1. It's Frost in disguise. 2. If not Frost, then her Manchurian candidate son whom she's been raising as her puppet to become grandmaster, get the medallion and give to her, or rule under her orders.

Maybe Shinnok is the one that double crosses and kills Quan Chi.

Or Reiko(assuming he's in) taking Quan Chi out since he hates him.

I don't think it'd be satisfying having one of the good guys take Quan Chi out; he needs to be outsmarted by someone 'on his side'.

Shinnok and Quan-Chi always seem to try to double-cross each-other. I still remember Quan-Chi's MK4 ending when Shinnok granted him the gift of his "existence", lol.

Well, she could do that pose and then her hair would just start to grow on its own and start flying upwards and transform into a big dragon.

umm yeah that's literally where that came from lol it's a classic scene in Mortal Kombat since that's what helped Quan Chi blossom into the threat he is today.

It's not the most original plot twist but it would keep Shinnok from being a joke boss twice in a row.

Liu Kang didn't die in MK2011, and, after Nightwolf's "hara kiri", Shang Tsung's soul left Sindel's body and possessed another guy.

Simple but nice plot twists.

The biggest twist ever would be that a "good guy" will be the main boss. It doesn't necessarily mean the main boss has to be a "bad guy". Why can't the bad guy become supreme over the good guy boss? Every game the boss was always a bad guy.

So, I think this idea would be a good twist.

Liu Kang returns as the fire god via his MK9 ending and gets very angry and forms into Blaze.

Something like they did with Reptile in MKD, but this time Liu is the victim.

I could see an alliance formed by Shinnok and Raiden, to destroy the elder gods.

Shinnok gets betrayed by Quan Chi with the whole amulet thing, and is imprisoned in the Nether Realm.
Raiden, having earned the scorn of Liu Kang, the earth realm warriors, and the elder gods, is stripped of his god status.

The two meet in the Nether Realm, realize they both hate pretty much everyone, and team up to destroy the elder gods and conquer the realms!

New deadly alliance!
