Takeda and Kenshi are actually the same character in MKX.
What I mean is that they are different characters sharing the same skin, so you start out as Kenshi in the storyline and you end up with his son in the end, and Takeda being an alternate costume for Kenshi.
No way in hell they are gonna use 3 telekinetic characters in one game with so much fan-favorites being out. And they probably wanna use both Kenshi and Takeda in this game so this would be a serious solution, especially when they go with the takeda-also-has-his-fathers-moves route.
I know you can do much with telekinesis blablabla, but on other levels it would suck if characters like Fujin, Sektor/Cyrax and Baraka are out while they would play a whole lot different than all the telekinetic characters, so giving Kenshi another skin and another voice/intro is a much better solution.
OR, they should turn Takeda into a non-telepathic/telekinetic character that uses other things like whips and stuff like that, two sword-using telekinetic characters would for me be a no go.
I'd rather have Kenshi in the game than his son, so i'm all in for two alternate costumes for Kenshi, one that shows kenshi in a different suit and one for his son, maybe even his son-version can have an alternate costume as well, as some characters in MK9 got 4 alternate costumes.
What do you all think?

I can see it, but I also would be kind of disappointed. New characters need their own moveset to define them, or else they're easily forgettable. You don't want to make your debut as a clone.

You know.... Takeda probably won't even end up as a playable character. Has anyone ever considered that Takeda might just be character who shows up in cutscenes.

So, you rather see two the same sword-using telekinetics wasting two spots?
I mean if he HAS his own moves without any telekinesis and without sword I could see your point.
BUT THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT IF THEY END UP BOTH BEING SWORD-WIELDERS AND TELKINETICS, not if they are very different from each other.

To be fair, MK:DA had Frost and Sub-Zero, both wielding cryomancer powers.
But I like the OP's idea of Takeda (a character I've yet to seen but heard of because I've only seen the previews of the comics) being somehow Kenshi's son. I don't want two characters who both have a sword and telekinetic powers with a similar look (I'm guessing?) take up a spot for another character while one of them can suffice.
Ermac is a completely different character that happens to have telekinetic powers. Just how Liu Kang can manipulate fire and so can Scorpion and Shang Tsung.

I didn't play Injustice, but didn't they do this with a few characters? Robin and Nightwing? Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Yellow Lantern? I get that some characters were alternate universe versions of themselves or whatever, but if Nether Realm did this with Injustice, its possible they could do it again with MKX.
I could see Sonya and Johnny both being skins for Cassie. Johnny would be Cassie's Hollywood style, while Sonya would be Spec. Ops.
Kenshi and Takeda, Kung Lao and Kung Jin, maybe Jax and Jacqui?
I'd much rather see each character have their own individual and unique move set, but it isn't out of the realm of realities.

This^ Along with the apparent Sub-Zero/Frost. Not to forget about there are multiple fire users.

Robin was in Injustice, not even a skin for Nightwing.

Or dies either in the Komic or in a cutscene.
Though honestly, I don't feel like they would invest all this time(in the komic) introducing us him and to not put him in the game.
But Stranger things have happened.. I mean Meat and Blaze were playable kharacters...

People, I have nothing against Ermac + Kenshi, they proved it could work.
I have something against Kenshi + his son, if they both are about swords and telekinesis. IF Takeda has unique moves and don't have a sword but a whip, then i'm fine with it, but two sword telekinesis is kinda cheap and others deserve to be in it more to make it more various.
Don't even gonna reply to icebaby, everything Boon &CO throws at her is fine with her, well not everybody is such a slave for them missy.

Okay, so what if Kenshi is not in the game.
Takeda takes his place as a sword(s) wielding, Telekinesis using, warrior?
Are you fine with that?

This post is hysterical. You're okay with having two characters that have played similar towards each other in previous games... but the moment it's being done for X, you're going off the deep end about it?
I honestly don't get the point you're trying to make here if you've just admitted you have nothing against two characters who DO have the same moves from each other in the same game. If you're okay with Ermac and Kenshi being in the same game, then what the hell is different from let's say, Cassie and Sonya? Frost and Sub-Zero? Scorpion and any other character that has fire? Wouldn't Kenshi or Takeda (if he has Kenshi's abilities) be a "waste?" Or is it just certain characters that you like is okay to be in the same game with a character that possesses similar abilities, but those you don't like, shouldn't be in?
Because that would be fucking asinine.
Also, for your last bit, of course what they've thrown at us is likable in my books. They're finally doing something I've been dying for years to see in this series. But gee, I guess anyone who's been a die-hard fan for the last twenty years and likes what they've seen with this game so far is a slave to them eh?
Jesus Christ dude...

It's almost a given Takeda will play more like a ninja with added TK elements. In fact, I almost wouldn't be surprised if over the course of the comics, Takeda turns into a new ninja. Maybe not one of the rainbow ninjas but a ninja none-the-less. Kenshi will play more like a swordsman with added TK elements. Ermac will play as a juggling/flying character based around TK elements.
The TK elements are mostly gonna be there just for visual fluff anyway. Besides, we already have several characters who have freaking fireballs and shit like that.

Too much?
Ladies and Gents, they'll make sure the characters have their own style. I know NRS has a penchant for redundancy but...come now.

But just WHY are people already assuming Jacqui would play even remotely similar to Jax, if she was to be in the game? She's a kickboxer with no affiliation to SF as far as we know

Because people still have Kira, Jarek, Mavado and all those other clones fresh in their memory.
It's something that Mortal Kombat did a lot of times, replacing old characters with newer ones and just copy-the-moves into those characters, because you'know, there are only so many things you can do in a fighting game...
Many people fear that the kids will just be younger versions of their parents and are there because (Humans, always humans) humans age and they block the way of telling interesting stories, monsters and edenians don't have such flaws.
I love Kenshi + Ermac, one holds pure telekinetic powers and one more like a starwars-force + an awesome almost living sword.
IF takeda enters the fray and also has a sword + telekinetic moves but very different moves than his father, I still find it boring, as it makes Kenshi LESS special, just like Cassie Cage would make Sonya Blade less special, they both have boring human-like moves and very human appearance, so they would rule each other out for me.
Never hated Sonya Blade before, but until Cassie was released and I really thought she would replace sonya, then suddly learned sonya would be in the game too probably...
Anyway in a 30+ rooster I wouldn't mind Cassie + Sonya and Kenshi + Takeda (still would pick other characters over them though) but in a limited 24 rooster I think they are wastes, especially since almost none (only reptile and ermac) of my favorites are revealed yet, and probably sit this one out while they have survived MK9.
Ok, I have found new favorites in Ferra/Torr, D'vorah and Kotal Kahn (and please be in Erron Black, you show the other humans what a cool human should look like) but I'd rather see the characters back that made me love the series, Sektor, Rain, Mileena, Kabal, Nightwolf, Tanya, Fujin, Reiko, Baraka, Kenshi, Kira (with new moves please) and Havik
