brutalities?

Let me explain. Most professional players doesn't use the x-ray moves because it's not worth it. So i would like to see the x-rays sequence at the end of an "Ultra Combo". Yes a little bit like KI. If the enemy has -10% life and you have 3 bars full in your super meter you can perform an x-ray-combo by starting a combo and then use R2 and L2 for the x-ray. Then the cpu prolonged the combo you started and end it with an x-ray.

This would have two advantages. The first one is - as i mentioned before - that no one really uses the x-ray because of the gaping void between effort and benefit. So you can focus on ex-moves or breaker. And the enviroment gives you enough options in the game.
Now the second point. X-rays looking really brutal. Mostly you think the enemy must be dead after it. But they stand up without harm. So this variation makes sure the x-rays stays brutal and have the Impact it deserves.

I know Netherrealm won't change it for MKX but i hope they thought about something like this for the next MK ;)

Honestly, I like your idea. I support this. X-rays to me, always were too devastating looking, for something to be pulled off in the middle of battle, and the opponent shrugging it off like nothing happened.

It's called suspension of disbelief, bro. MK, and indeed few fighting games in general have EVER been about realistic combat. People really don't fight like the MK fighters do. Most of the attacks leveled by MK fighters would double-over or even knock out a person in RL (maybe even kill). And X-rays most definitely would kill someone, or at the very least leave them in shock or incapacitated with severe pain.

Long-story short? It's a game that doesn't really take reality too seriously. And thus X-rays have the benefit of looking brutally satisfying without being game-ending. Also, to the OP, no. Just no.

X-rays are basically Fatalities in the middle of combat. My suspension of disbelief can only take so much, until I call bullshit. I think X-rays would be more fun as a new form of Brutalities, instead of performing them 2-3 times per match.

Especially since some of them are really lengthy.

Then you shouldn't be playing Mortal Kombat...

I'd prefer if we had got Brutalities and the X-Rays would be the finisher. Enter the button combo for the brutality, then hit the L2 and R2.
Just having the X-Rays as Brutalities, would be just a normal Fatality.

Like I said before. xray's slow down matches to much.
A toggle option to disable them(and fatalities) would be nice.

Indeed.

Mortal Kombat is among the most unrealistic of video game franchises. A suspension of disbelief should come naturally to it.

The pros aren't the only ones playing Mortal Kombat. X-Rays are fun and awesome to many, including myself. They are like the Super/Ultra Moves in Street Fighter and King of Fighters, but unique to MK.

I say let X-Ray moves be X-Ray moves and not turn them into something else.

Well, i had also fun with x-rays. But in MK9 most of the combos for several characters makes more damage with ex-moves than with a x-ray. So they aren't necessary for the game.

I know MK isn't realistic and it shouldn't be in the future. But on the other side i think x-rays should be performed at the end of a match. Because it has so much potentitial to be reworked as a new "-ality" or brutality.

Netherrealm could replace them with super moves like scorpions move in Injustice. It could be designed in a way that it didn't slow the gamespeed and looks pretty sweet.
