So i know there was a poll about this a while ago with i beileve lin kuei winning with brotherhood close behind but my question is, why will you be picking whichever faction you pick? I'm picking Lin Kuei or Brotherhood because 2 of my most favorite characters (Cyrax and Frost) are from the Lin Kuei while Havik (my 2nd most favorite above frost but behind cyrax) might be helping Brotherhood or at least he does in Noobs MK9 ending. If i can though, i want to switch factions after each war just to switch things up

My fav is in the Lin Kuei but I will pick the Brotherhood of shadow because I always thought they were cooler than the Lin Kuei or any other faction. Fuck, Noob is in it, Scorpion,Quan Chi,Reiko,Sareena and their leader one of the great characters of MK, Shinnok. Also I know I mentioned some characters who might not be with the BOS anymore but they were at one point or another.
Still, BROTHERHOOD OF SHADOW FTW!

You are mistaken because as everybody knows, "No one leaves the Lin Kuei".
I will probably start with Brotherhood of Shadow, just cause Quan Chi's craziness and it's always fun being the bad guy.
However if I have my eye on some of the faction kills I really like before hand, I might change that.
In the end it really matters who was the coolest faction fatality, as If i remember right you have to be a part of a faction in order to perform that faction kill. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Brotherhood of Shadow because their base is quite snazzy.

Honestly, I'll jump around until I max all of them out then I'll be sticking with whichever one has the coolest faction kills lol.

I'm choosing White Lotus since I'll be maining my favorites, Kung Lao and Liu Kang. I'll probably end up using Raiden and Kung Jin as well. I'll switch to Lin Kuei later followed by Special Forces, Brotherhood of Shadow and then Red Dragon.

Raiden and Fujin are the main confirmed reasons for choosing the White Lotus!
Kai and Shujinko are unconfirmed but they add to that faction's appeal.

Pretty much. I think I'll start with Lin Kuei though.
Are Faction kills only applicable in online matches?
The whole idea of factions were cool until it was revealed that one is able to switch between factions at will. Which, imo, defeats the whole purpose of factions in the first place. They should have made it a permanent thing. Once you join a faction, you are forever apart of it.
So this question of "which faction will you choose" is kinda redundant now.

Factions just became pointless.

There are penalties for switching. Switching midweek, in the middle of a faction war I'd assume. But penalties nonetheless.
You lose all the EXP gained during your time supporting that faction for one.
Okay, real talk.
>Lin Kuei
The most pleb faction of them all. Everyone and their mom will want to join the 1337 NINJAZZZ KLUB. Pass.
>Black Dragon
lol, Kano's homeboys represent. Pass.
>Special Forces
A bit too 'MURIKA FUCK YEAH for me. Pass.
>White Lotus
On one hand, they do have the comfiest faction background of them all. On the other hand, the thought of having the God of Blunder as my boss is not exactly appealing. Pass.
I guess that leaves only the Edgehood. :/

This is precisely why I am also staying away from the Lin Kuei. Every single n00b playing for the first time will join this faction instantaneously. It's going to get overcrowded on day 1 for sure and eventually turn into the clusterfuck faction. No thanks.

I know there is an achievement for reaching max rank with every faction, beyond the one just for switching factions at least once. It will be a grind, but I'll try to do it anyway.
The question for me is which faction to switch to LAST, as it is more efficient to save the one I really want to be in for the end, rather than having to switch back to it and rank up twice.
Me? Crime isn't appealing, so I'll go in the order of my least favorite to my least opposed. Black Dragon holds the least appeal, because even if they aren't arguably the most "evil" they are the most bland. There's never any meat to the story there: just criminals after money. Brotherhood and Lin Kuei will be my next factions. Unfortunately that leaves me having to choose between the Special Forces or White Lotus for my favorite, neither of which I fully enjoy for separate reasons.
Ultimately, the least evil of the bunch seems like White Lotus, so I'll probably save that for my final faction. I don't know if it was intentional, but you can take the special forces in this game to be the extreme example of what many already perceive of America: claiming authority over everything everywhere as if their agenda is better than anyone else's.
