According to Wikipedia (I know, I know) the story will revolve around Scorpion and Sub Zero working together to defeat Quan Chi after Scorpion finds out that the death of his family and clan was set up by Quan Chi.

His intro against Sub-Zero pretty much confirms that.
It really grinds my gears that after FINALLY getting some story progression in MKD he then gets warped back into the same crap over and over and over again. *sigh*

It will be about Scorpion punching people.

Here's how I imagine Scorpion will react, if it's not only a new Sub-Zero, but one that has nothing to do with either Bi-Han or Kuai Liang, and Scorpion knows it: "You'll pay for the deaths of my family and clan!"

"But I had nothing to do with it!" says the new SZ. "Words will not save you, Lin Kuei warrior", replies Scorpion. "Lin Kuei? I've never even been part of it!" to which Scorpion replies by saying "FIGHT!".

Here's also the exchange between Scorpion and Frost that we never got.

Scorpion: That wig and those fake breasts will not fool me, Sub-Zero!

Frost: Sub-Zero! You froze me! For that you will pay!

Scorpion: What kind of trick is this?! You are Sub-Zero, and you will pay for the slaughter of my family and clan!

Frost: You think you can fool me, Sub-Zero?!

Ah but the fact that Sub-Zero is tired of maintaining his, his brothers, and his clans innocence says enough to me to know that something will drastically change in both their futures. Sub-Zero needs Scorp to find the truth because Scorpion is going to constantly get in his way. He doesnt need that shit for 25 years. Scorpion will learn the truth in this game and be a reluctant good guy.

I don't think they would spoil some of game's story mode by arcade ladder intros. Plus, even Sub-Zero's like "Wtf dude, I thought we settled this" in that intro. It's probably a nod to our old SZ-Scorp rival relationship.

Don't care much for Scorpion though, as there are so many other interesting characters with each of their own stories that needs to be told.

Sub Zero will say... No No No... And Scorpion won't believe it... Would be even more funny if it is Kuai Lang, the one he himself said isn't the Sub Zero he killed.

At the end Sub Zero will say... You know what... Fuck you... 25 years later and you still a whiny ass cry baby.

Scorpion will go all emo... Sub Zero instead will get a nice story line (hopefully) as in the past

Since the story will span 25 years, I think we're going to get more out of Scorpion plot wise than the ol' hunting Sub-Zero revenge story. It could very well start off that way, but after the MK9 reboot I think the characters are going to go in all different directions story wise. And we still don't know who this Sub-Zero is...the plot thickens.
