Yeah, I won't lie that MK's story has been lacking for like....since forever. Granted it is better than most fighting game storylines but unfortunately that doesn't say much.

The main beef I have with MK is that the characters usually don't show ANY personality. Yeah, you've got bios but what else is there? You don't actually know anything about the characters when you use them. That's a tragic flaw that's been in MK since the beginning really.

The characters speak random gibberish. On top of this a lot of characters still share voices. Why? Got me... No other fighting game I can think of has characters that either don't say anything OR share voices.

The only character that kind of got that was Jax (particularly in DA) but what they did to him was disgusting to say the least. Unfortunately the only thing they could brilliantly come up with him to say was "Awwww yeah..!" and "That's what I'm talkin' about!" or "That's what you get!"

I think MK's storyline could be helped immensely if they could actually give their characters a tangible personality while in the game.

well, I thought the storyline was going alright (granted there were some plot holes) up until MKD, and it really fell apart in MKA. IMO

I've always liked the Storyline in MK, but it does have it's flaws. You can get some emotions from the characters, but not a lot. MKSM did give us some of that at least for some characters. At least it has a storyline, unlike some other fighting games where the storyline is really uninteresting/or dosen't have one at all.

Like many, I think the the story with MK is better than most fighting games however armageddon did a good job of screwing that up (although their doing better with the bios). I also agree that the story needs to be prettty damn when it comes to mortal kombat 8 especially if we're going to be introduced to alot of new characters.

On a side note I like it if the new MK had a story mode where we could get cutscenes of the characters before or after a fight. I think that could definitely help with giving the characters more personality.

i think the armageddon story line is real shitty and rediculous. Like come on, every character mysteriously returning for a huge war w/ a fire god named blaze. Its laughable. TAven and DAegon are the dumbest new characters ever in my opinion.

It's not really a war that they are waging. Blaze is not a god. He's simply a fire elemental created by the Edenian sorceress, Delia.

The point of the battle of Armageddon was that the warriors were drawn to the battleground due to hearing about obtaining a great power. Whoever kills Blaze gets that power. However, Blaze's death was meant to be caused by either Taven or Daegon.

If Taven kills Blaze, the power released from his death is meant to go through Taven's armor and nullify the powers of the kombatants. If Daegon kills Blaze, the power released by Blaze's death is meant to go through Daegon's armor and kill all of the kombatants for good.

Also, the quest of the two brothers is meant to test which one was worthier of succeeding Argus to become the new Protector God of Edenia, thus being granted full godhood. In addition, the quest was meant to pinpoint the true source of disruption in the realms, which seems to either be Shinnok's amulet or Quan Chi.

Shinnok is using this quest and the whole prophecy thing to his advantage, namely influencing Daegon, so that Daegon can assist him. If Daegon kills Blaze, the kombatants will be destroyed, hence he won't have to deal with them. And then, Shinnok can take the power he needs from Blaze and ascend to the Heavens, thus getting his revenge on the Elder Gods and taking control of Reality itself.
