We need better blood
Anyone else getting abit fed up with the blood looking like red ball bearings? Its just...well crap. We need the blood to be like on Gears of war or something.
Hears how I think blood should work and other damage things:
There shouldnt really be that much blood when fighting, it should mostly come from the facial area or wounds that are cut up. so for example If they get punched in the stomach you should hear a crunch and blood should shoot out of their mouth.
Get punched in the nose they see splatters of blood and the nose breaks.
Perhaps they could have an engine like in fight night where the faces goes all floppy etc. when cut by a blade you could see splashes of blood from the impact. Perhaps depending on what hits you depends on the cut too e.g. a mace will have dotty bits while a sword will show a slash.
If this game is to be an 18 you want some nice chilling blood effects when it comes to fatalities, not some crap cartoony crap. This game is exagerated so perhaps the blood should be like kill bill, ott but not stupid.
So if we see an arm hacked off we want showers of blood.

There has already been a thread about this in the MK Armageddon forum.
But just to answer , I really think that the meat needs to change. It would be cool if the fatalities were more realistic.

No. Blood is one of the things that makes Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat (Sadly...), and I like how much there is of it. But yes, it could be more realistic.

Well without blood mortal kombat wouldn't be Mortal Kombat, but the graphics on the blood are cartoonish, it get spit out like in big lumps, so they should change it up, and make it thinner. Just a thought, it would make it look more life like.

Totally agree with you man. The blood has to be something to fight for and not expected from some light punches and kicks. I personally would love it if you start seeing blood between the middle and the end of the fight, and the amount of blood needs to be less.
It's also gotta be more liquidy and have the spraying effect of strings of blood, like this image:
agreed with everybody regarding the importance of blood in mk, and would like to see the amount depend on the kind of " hit " inflicted. so far in my opinion some of the best blood effects were in one of midways earlier games BIOFREAKS !!! the blood was thin like it was coming out of an artery and it pusled with the victim's heartbeat. i am sure it's old now but it was gross then. so make mine in thin spurts please !!!!

As Boon said, reality is boring, who wants to pay to see reality? I agree with him on that sole basis. Blood is MK. but i do agree, blood should look more realistic and should be more shocking and every single punch shouldn't equal blood. But if MK ever got rid of blood, thats it, i would be done.
It kills to me to this day that MKII, which is almost 15 years old, and was the teams 2nd out 7 games in the series, still looks more realistic and has more shock value then it's predecessors.
While I do like the trilogy that MK4 spun-off. However when ever you see footage from MIdway Studios with Ed Boon or even in his interviews he says he doesn't want the fatalities to look to realistic. Isn't that would made Mortal Kombat so famous anyways.
They had real actors tearing each other to shreds. Some of these younger players (I'm not flaming you!!) may not appreciate those MK's, but they had jaw dropping graphics, and were by far one of the most realistic games in terms of graphics around. But the further MK goes, the worse it looks. I thought Deadly Alliance looked better than Deception.
But maybe the MK:Team will learn that less means more this time around. I'd settle for 15-20 characters if it meant that they had more time to focus on gameplay and graphics and not mini-games and a jell-o excuse for blood. And they are using the U3 engine on next-gen systems, so they'd better have a damn good excuse for crappy graphics and animation this time around.

Agreed 100% with both of you. There should be less blood and make it look more realistic.Just like in that Ninja Gaiden2 image.MrMan Wrote:
