I thought the whole point of MKX was to feature next generation fighters to replace the ones that either died or were too old to keep fighting. But so far we have:

Raiden
Sub-Zero (some incarnation)
Kitana
Kung Lao
Jax (according to the new video)
Sonya is still around in some capacity judging by the factions...

There was a rumor that Quan-Chi lost control over some of the Earthrealm heroes' souls during the Netherrealm Wars. Don't tell me that he ended up stuck with the likes of Stryker, Kabal, Nightwolf instead of holding onto the more iconic powerful characters like Sub-Zero.

Well the game is not out yet.

It's the next generation, but it's still the start of the next generation. They won't just get rid of all the oldies in one go. Although I think lots of us would like to see new characters and post MK3 characters get a chance to shine, they don't want to pull a SFIII.

Plus it's cool to see our old favourites getting older.

Don't forget about the classic bonus characters for the special editions.

I think I would have rather seen the classic, iconic characters be a part of the Kombat Pack to make room for even more new characters.

Sonya Blade (MK1 era)
Jax (MK2 era)
Sektor (MK3 era)
Fujin (MK4 era)

I didn't believe them when they said MKX would have the most new characters than any other MK game. At least they made some new characters (Cassie, D'vorah, Kotal) that do have a good purpose on being made and are instant MK favorites for some fans.

Exactly, which means there's an even greater chance for non-new characters to make an appearance. People are still hoping for the likes of Tanya or Reiko when Netherrealm could invest in better, original characters.

Do people actually want to get rid of the iconic characters?

That would be like building a house without a foundation.

So many have little patience. Why can't we just wait? There's literally not that many days left till' April 14th.

Congratulations, you are one of the many who jumped the gun with that assumption. Ed even said there would be a lot of returning characters in this game.

So you expect them to end the mk9 characters in Mk x with Ermac and only include 4 new characters and the rest all mk4 onward characters?

I excluded them because we have much less information about them story-wise than say Cassie, D'vorah, and Kotal.

I don't think it's a problem with returning characters, I think it's a problem with who is returning. Most would have preferred more characters from mk4onward get a chance to shine with some mk9 returnees and new people. But it's shaping to be all mk9 with maybe 1 or two mk4onward characters and rest new.

There was not only characters 24 characters. Boon had already stated to be 30. What gives a margin of 24-30 characters MK4-A.

I bet money on the distribution 14 MKT. New 8-9. 6-7 MK4-A. 1 Guest.

Another thing people are forgetting that not all of the characters will be playable Living Towers (me clearly appears that this will be the case with Jax).

Its the younger people who are newer to MK, who didnt experience the original trilogy when it was actually released.

I mean all fighting games bring back essentially the same characters in every one of their games. If you want all new characters and no returning characters try a fighting game series you haven't played yet.

(this is coming from someone who has been playing mk since mk1 in 1992, and actually prefers the 3d games over the 2d)

love all characters, because they are mk charcters, sometimes people you didn't like in a previous game will suddenly be your new favorite

Look people, 95% of the 3d characters will probably never be seen again in the games. Make your peace with it or move on, this is getting silly
