I can't say in good conscience that any of these things are "dumb" calls. I understand the gripes, but half of these things boil down to the devs having a different creative vision for the game than people generally expected, and the other half are about people not really grasping what kind of work goes into these games. But whatever, I'll play the nagging game. Here are some things I'd seriously prefer they'd done differently:


1. Too many X-rays focus on the head and neck. Need more creative ones like Kano's, Erron's, Raiden's, etc.

2. A new unrelated hero and a villain descendant would have been nice.

3. The Amazon stream was a goddamn mess, but that isn't really the game's fault.

4. Umm... I'm out.




As for the other complaints I'm finding here, well....



This situation is pretty much exactly the same as the Deception scenario, where the heroes were killed and then enslaved by a bad guy, then released from their bondage perfectly alive. It happened before, it can happen again.



Did you see how much work goes into the characters and arenas we do have? The fact that it's next-gen makes building all these characters and arenas that much more painstaking. That's why they have incredible detail but a smaller number. And don't forget that every character they build is like three in one. Just because we can come up with more characters and their variations off the top of our heads doesn't make them simple to create from the ground up, with mocap and sound design and 100+ voice clips and everything.



The whole point of this game is to have the old guys set up and send off the new guys. That is the story of the game, and they used the limited roster space to tell that story in Story Mode. Adding cameos and NPC fights is their way of giving us those extra characters so they're not "forgotten," but if you want to take that as an insult, then that's a choice that you are making. Shit, they made Tremor happen just to make people happy and there's DLC in the pipeline. I'd like some of those characters back too, but if there isn't room, there isn't room.



I'm looking at her MK4 and MKD appearances right now and not seeing a significant difference. She was always more tan/honey than black.



I first heard this complaint waaaaay back when Ferra/Torr performed the very first one, so I'm pretty sure people are counting the ones from MK9 in their heads when they say MKX has too many. Honestly, I'm not sure that MKX really has that many, though I haven't exactly counted.

People complaining about the comics being misleading because they have Reiko or Havik really need to check their expectations.

It's a promo comic series that's always been tangentially related to the game. World building, not a direct narrative prelude. From the beginning it was said we would see characters there that aren't in the game. If you're disappointed now it's because you got your hopes up too much with nothing to go on. It'd be great to have Reiko, yes, but that's not the creators fault that you assumed he'd be in it.




As for the thread idea itself, I'd say we have to wait to play the game until we can make final calls, excepting shallow things like "wah not enough stages" etc

I was gonna get a ps4/xb1 for this game, but not now.
9 felt like 1-3. X feels like 4. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, abit.
Gotta say it looks very colourless and dull. The new characters are boring.
And the girls are ugly!
Hope it plays better than it looks.

Thanks for the laugh. Of course Tanya can be black, especially since she WAS black. What I don't consider her is African American.

I'm not really sure why people keep defending this change, or worse, acting like nothing happened, especially when so many people feel the need to point it out.

Anyway, the real issue that myself and others are having is that they did this once already by Michael Jacksoning Jade. The implication is that they wanted to "make her more appealing to fans," which is racist.

Beyond that, her new look is ratchet. But this is really all stuff for the Tanya Superthread.

You do realize that:

A. Ed Boon and John Tobias are still good friends as said in many recent interviews as far back as MK vs DC. They both keep in contact and have lunch together sometimes.

B. Boon, may set the agenda to the storyline, but he isn't directly in charge of the storyline.

If anything, the MK team looked very unhealthy(See Deception bio cards) back during the Deception Armageddon days. Ever since they got bought out by the WBgames, they all seem to look much healthier (MK9 interviews) and happier. I guess, I would be too.
