So Ed Boon stated that there will be several timelines at work in this new game. We know for sure one timeline will continue the story where MK 9 left off., and another will take place 25 years in the future, so what will the other timelines be? How many will there be?

It'd be a pretty safe bet to say that there will be at least one timeline in the past. My prediction is that it covers Shinok original war on the Heavens millions of years ago. I think Kotal Kahn will be the Guardian god of Outworld at this time, and maybe Shao Kahn's older brother. I also think that D'Vorah will be involved in this timeline. I see her as maybe a God from another realm, or, in my own theory, she is one of the original citizens of Earthrealm. I think this because in MK 4 it was stated Shinok and Raiden wiped out almost all life on Earth in their initial battle, so I see D'Vorah and her race as being among the casualties in the original timeline.

I think there will also be another past timeline, this one much closer to the present. I think this mainly because Boon hinted in the IGN interview that Sub-Zero will be from the family but not either of the brothers. So if the brothers being the 4th and 5th Sub-Zeroes isn't retconed that means this new Sub-Zero must be from a couple generations previous.
