Thoughts on the gore tech?

How do you think NRS are doing so far on the gore tech front? For the most part, I think they're doing well. I miss the in-fight character damage from 9. Was playing MK9 last night on a new TV and the detail was terrific, Scorpion's shoulder tear flapping about, etc. Granted, some of it was a little OTT. Is this still a work in progress? I haven't seen much in-fight damage in the released vids.
The only other thing bugging me are a few small details, like in Reptile's fatality when he spits acid in the opponents face....
It just too cleanly dissolves the face only, - I want to see the hairline dissolving back, the neck starting to dissolve and the clothing above chest level, and skin around shoulders/neck...
At the moment it reminds me of the MK9 netherealm fatality when they dip the opponents face into lava - you pull the head out of the lava, the face has melted away, but hairline just sorta floats above the face un-touched. Come on NRS - tech has moved on.
Little details like this make all the difference imho.

I think it's great
I mean, I'm glad they have the tech to do things like, yanking their intestines out of their mouth and making big holes, but again, in that the other fatality thread, its bugs me that the insides when cut in half are just a texture along a flat surface, especially since in Scorpion's fatality, the brain is inching its way out of the cranium

I do feel like it's progressed quite a bit and looks quite good... Ermac's revealed fatality is already becoming one of my favorites.
But yeah, like others, I do feel the "split in half" fatalities should have the organs fall out. But hey, these are probably the best/most cinematic fatalities they've created yet. I swear, they look almost like cut scenes now. We've come a long way in 23 years

Honestly?
I'm blown away.
The fatalities (since E3, mind you) actually make me cringe. That's sayin' something. The last time that happened for me was the early 90's.
I'm sure I'll catch things I don't like or that could be better. But right now, I'm just so pre-occupied with my previous statement that I haven't even really noticed the small details yet.

There is nothing wrong with it in my opinion.

Actually, no, they should not. The lungs are attached to the trachea, the heart has the venes and major vessels that are a finger thick usually. Hell, Scorpion's fatality has a fuckup by having the brain slide out.
Brain stem? Besides the thing being encased in a thick mucus?

^^^This. Really, every new fatality revealed makes me feel like I'm an 8 year old at the arcades playing MKII and discovering just how intense the fatalities were.
Hell, I remember seeing photos of Kitana's MKII kiss of death fatality in EGM in fall of '93, and seeing her opponent explode into a red mist... only to be shocked when I lost to her the first time and I exploded into guts and bones. Warped my fragile little 8 year old mind

The only Fatality that has ever legitimately creeped me out was Jax's "Arm Rip" from MK2, because you didn't die right away. It was much more realistic than an exploding kiss or a mutant stabbing you through the chest.
But with MK3, the Fatality creativity started going down the shitter in a big way.

It's really great. It's imperfect but it's easily the best its ever been and we've only seen a very small fraction of what it has to offer. I'm willing to bet NRS is keeping the most impressive stuff under wraps.

The gore tech is awesome but it's the animation, camera angles and attention to detail that impress me most. Like Kano's eyes rolling up into his head and the terrified look on their faces while facing Kung Lao's spinning hat.
That makes the fatality so much better.

I love how if you blink you'll miss that the center part of Kano's head starts to slide in Kitana's trailer Very curious to see how the rest of it turns out. I'm sure we'll see it in full in the next stream, as long as she doesn't lose to Reptile

Loving the gore tech, a lot better than MK9. The only vertical slice so far that the insides come out is Quan Chi's, that's cool.
We'll get to see both Kitana's and Reptile's fatalities in the upcoming stream. Can't wait to see Reptile's in full What I like about Kitana's, is that she slices her opponents hands off Always wanted that in MK.
My fave fatalities so far are Scorpion's, Kotal's, Kitana's and Ermac's. I only like the first part of Quan's when the sword goes in the mouth and comes out of the back of the neck.

i think it looks awesome and the fatalities are creative as ever. i'm looking forward to it. i didn't notice the character damage at first either but it's there. i didn't like the missing eyelids from mk9 but the clothing damage was pretty cool.

Really? They are a lot better than any of MK9's. The only ones I enjoyed from MK9 are both of Noobs, Sektor's (Scarecrow) and Stryker's (Time Served).

This. NRS really stepped up their game and made everything more cinematic. Its amazing how much a different camera angle here or there can change the impact of a fatality. Good stuff.

Steve baron said he was very excited about the new damage system. Every cut was very accurate. I think they just have it toned down until the final build.

Hate to be that guy, but it doesn't seem like anything special to me. Sure, it's a step up from MK9, but nothing about it has blown me away. Not that it matters, though; I don't play MK for the gore and fatalities.

I can't wait to see the fatalities of Shinnok, Baraka, Mileena, and LIU KANG.
Believe it or not.
Is it bad that I still want to see the Dragon Morph in this? #5 on my top 5...just sayin'...
