Thirty something characters
Thirty something characters
Boon retweeted this from the gamescom event.
Not much new except Ed referring to variations for thirty something characters. It may have just been nervous rambling but.

In my personal opinion they are taking far too much time to reveal stuff in this game..

As I said in the Rain Petition thread, they keep saying around 30 characters but the select screen never reflects that. 30 would be a nice solid number with 6-8 DLC, absolutely perfect.

Be that as it may, I ́m kinda happy I ́m not spoiled yet about MKX. Of course, if I ́m being spoiled I allowed that myself. But I think it ́s good they ́re not rushing new reveals in as much as they can.
Though it would be nice to see some new gameplay at least...

I just wish in this 'dry' period between reveals we'd get some vids of already revealed characters similar to the Raiden/Kano trailers. That would probably keep things ticking over nicely.

I don't know why Ed tweeted this so late, especially when the clip was already on youtube right after Gamescom. We really need something new to talk about.

If it is 30 characters, we should get at least 6 MK4-MKD characters, including the "most likely" candidates like Quan Chi, Shinnok and Kenshi. The other 3 could be Tanya, Fujin, and Havik. Not a surprising line-up but it'll do.

Do you really see Kenshi as a candidate? Sure he is the most popular MKDA-MKA character but after being in MK9 it's unlikely he'll appear again.

MK9 marketing would have killed you guys. They didn't reveal any new characters after Gamescom 2010 until the Jax reveal on GTTV in late October.
The marketing will pick up in November, if MK9 is anything to go by (although we're not getting much until then, except maybe 1 character reveal). From November until release, we had a constant news (look at the archives).
-
This 30-character thing doesn't confirm anything. He could have just thrown that out as a random amount (it's sufficiently vague). He could have been including DLC characters. We don't know, so it's all speculation.

Most of the returning will be bad/neutral. So a pretty good handful of new characters could be good/neutral..

Roster places are limited, we aren't even sure that we'll see many MKDA-MKA characters (IF we see someone), and there wasn't a huge Kenshi demand for the upcoming game... Well, I may be wrong with the latter, but personally I haven't seen much.

I haven't seen much either, I only put him in the list because NRS seems to really have a soft spot for him. Him making it in MK9 and being the only Post MK3 character to do so(aside from Quan Chi of course) says a lot. I could definitely see NRS bringing him back for MKX, this time in the main roster and story mode and not as DLC.

Glad to see the numbers are increasing, more of a possibility for our favs to make the cut.
To be honest I really hope everyone that died in MK9 stay dead. I really want to see MK4-Deception character. Even sonya and johnny can sit this one out!
I want to see
Fujin
Tanya
Shinook
Li Mei
Frost
Kenshi
Nitara

That would be an insult to the MK9 had more than that. I don't care how many variations you give each character it's still one character! 24 at launch is an.absolute joke!

Variations, if done right, are gonna be a huge deal. This feature also presents a huge challenge in balancing. I'd say the 24 to 30 range is the sweet spot for an undertaking like this. I certainly won't complain if there's more than that, but at the same time, I don't think you're taking into account just how game breaking variations could be if NRS tries to stretch beyond their means.

I dont care how ground breaking the variations are,the bottom line is 24 kharacters is a joke at launch especially when mk9 launched with more. If half the roster wasnt new,I wouldn't care.
