Like a mode where u can just go in n dismantle someone. Choose where u want to slice them n put a hole in them, set them on fire, whatever. I have think it would be fun as hell lol

I think I like that idea. NRS might not like it so much because it might disincentivize players from playing the actual game and doing the fatalities.

Make it like a create a fatality type minigame, "Test Your Fatality" (or something). Give the player like 10 seconds, a set list of special move type commands that make you slice off a hand/arm/leg and you try to cram as much brutality in as possible in the time frame. Shit, maybe even have the opponent in some kinda bucket to catch the blood and use the blood loss to measure your success.

I could dig it. NRS, this one's free, the next'll cost ya a free copy, dammit.

Ehhh...I have to say no. This sounds like a really demented mode, tbh. I mean, it's one thing to pull off a fatality and execute your opponent. It's a whole 'nother realm of creepy if you're basically *dismantling* someone piece by piece over a period of time.

In the former case, the execution is quick and generally for bragging rights against a defeated opponent. You put in the code, you slay your opponent, and then a new match begins. In the latter case...you're just sitting in your room, by yourself most likely since it would be a 1-player mode, mutilating a fictious but nonetheless realistic representation of a human being...and since it's a whole mode by itself, this is probably going on for more than just a few seconds. More like minutes, or possibly even hours. Idk, just kind of sounds demented and borderline sadistic to me.

I mean, it's one thing to challenge the ESRB and even troll it a little bit (something MK excels at immensely)...but this would DEFINITELY get the board's attention, and in a much, MUCH worse way than usual. Might even get MKX the dreaded AO rating, imo, for depictions of torture.

No, I think it would just be better to leave the Gore Tech in the hands of NRS. I'm confident we'll be impressed with whatever finishers they come up with. No need to butcher a collection of polygons on our own just to peruse the system and see what manner of slaughter we can dream up. wink

Just my thoughts on subject.

This made me think of Metal Gear Rising's cutting mechanic.

I don't know. Bruising them and impaling them is already features used in fighting games. I don't think it's a bad idea but that's really creepy and just a flashy addition imo. + what happens to players that have already had their arms taken off, while playing with Scorpion? Is the fight over? And where does his spear would come from?

I think the OP is talking about a mode where the opponent just stands there while you cycle through a list of options or perform moves to mutilate them.

Kinda of like MK9's fatality practice mode except there is no specific fatality being performed and it doesn't end.

I don't think there's any fighting involved. Simply playing with the Gore Tech system.

Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

It may be a challenge tower sort of thing but it could happen.

Then yeah, no, definitely not on board with this idea.

Anyone played that torture game were you basically had a naked guy there, and you had a bit of options to mutilate and eventually kill the guy??

I can see how this idea is similar , and, can go just as bad as that game did.

Best leave things that will definitely give MK a bad rep, out.

This is a type of mode that will get boring reeeaaal quick. The only way to make this work is to have players play it by force. I can easily see this being featured in the Challenge Tower.

I'm not supporting this :) It's a fightinggame, not a torturegame.

After reading the OP, my very first thought was "Zandatsu"...
If it was just a fun and crazy mode like training, i'd be all for it. It sounds like Armageddon's Fatalities. I'd love to slice characters are all different angles.

I don't know. The fatalities have lost so much capital since the arcade days. To me, this would just make the experience cheaper. I realize I've said in the past that artificially restricting content is no way to extend replay value (especially since it doesn't even work; no one re-locks characters just to unlock them again), but this is one instance where restrictions would make the mechanic interesting again.

If you could even call it a mechanic. It's a glorified youtube video inserted into my game.

"Kreate a Pit"

Design your own MK pit. Spikes? Solid ground? Spinning spike wheels? Flames? Build your ultimate test and cast the fighter of your choice into the pit. Put the new Gore-tech to the test and see the amount of points you can accumulate!!!

Fucking sold.

This iz soooo bad Ace! Like a dream nightmare. Still waiting to see that subby pit with layers of ice to smash through to the bottom. Maybe interactive items could make the transitions. Or after each hit the ice cracks a little more & like the 3rd or Fifth uppercut would shatter through. Giant worm thing never happened, nor the gears from Red Dragon background. The MK9 Bell tower really should have utilized those gears; Felt unfinished. Lung Hai monster anyone?
