- It would begin with a video of the invasion forces Shinnok liquidating read it Mileena and Raiden and these latter having to recruit a team and combining for one last hope.
- The First Act would be the invasion of Shinnok soon after MK9 (An Oni - Sub-Boss - Boss would be the Act).
- The Second Act would be shortly after the end of Armageddon with Kahn trying to win until the last Kingdoms and an Elder God abdicate his position to stop him meeting the latest forces Realms (Shao Kahn would be a Sub-Boss and Boss would be the Act).
- At the End of the Second Act a mysterious force to send these forces by a force Mysterious Past (Havik what remains of Kamidogus) to Prevent Full Domain Shinnok. So these new forces united to what is left in the past would try to stop Shinnok. (Shinnok would be the Boss of the Game Act and that Act III).
- The Fourth Act would deal with the consequences of that revealing the evil plan of who sent them to the past (This would be a Secret Chief only the Story Mode and the Tower of Challenges).

Plausible?

I think at this point anything is possible. A couple of points though ..

- if it takes place after MK9 , I don't think we will see anything resembling any story elements from MK 4 and on as to many people died for those story's to be retold.

- Shinnok will def have something to do with the story

- if Shao Khan is in the game , I think it will be more of a mention rather than a playable or non playable character

Personally I hope it's a whole new story adding to the mythos. While mk9 worked because of the nostalgia and how iconic the original trilogy was, I don't think retelling 4 through Armageddon is any interesting.

I really like the idea of NRS "Third Striking" the series.

But that's not true.

MK4 only needs Shinnok and Quan Chi to exist for that plot to happen.

Deception only needs Shujinko and MAYBE Reptile.

Armageddon only needs Blaze.

NONE of those people are dead.

That said, Shao Kahn IS dead now, the ENTIRE POINT of Raiden's vision is "If you kill Shao Kahn, this amulet will stop breaking because it'll change the future so that he can't win Armageddon."

So having Kahn show up at all would mean Raiden's amulet should still be fucking breaking.

Shao Kahn still dead. In this proposal he would only appear in version of the first post-armageddon reality and only the post-armageddon arc. The Kahn's MK9 still dead (and would be dead in the future too he would not come to the past, and not be playable). About Rest you wrote about just Quan Chi and Shinnok are necessary for the Arc MK4. I agree.

Plot twist the Elder Gods are the big bad and their revived champion is fucking shit up. Liu Kang serves the Elder Gods, who have decided to directly interfere. At this point I'm just guessing random crazy stuff, I doubt this'll happen but it'd be an unexpected outcome
